It's practically 2023 in Australia, but because GR is American, therefore behind ;-), this will still go towards my 2022 challenge (I did read 80% in 2022). Happy New Year, dear friends!
Anyway, I'm glad I tried this, it was very well done. The fig tree, as an occasional narrator, anchored the different parts of the stories - the history of the conflict(s) in Cyprus, the two main protagonists' love story, a Turkish woman, Daphne and her Greek Cypriot, Kostas, whose relationship was frowned upon.
There's trauma, inherited trauma, superstitions, conflict, and starting a new life in a different country.
So far, this is my favourite Shafak novel.

Happy New Year, Laysee. Thank you.

And agree - good book! 💕"
Happy New Year to you, too, dear Elyse.

Happy New Year, Candi. I was expecting not to like it, so it was a pleasant surprise that I did. :-)
