it was amazing

** spoiler alert ** Alright, I'm about to reveal the ending of this book.
Go away if you haven't read the series or at least this book in the series!

Here we go, I'm about to give you an explanation to my likes and dislikes of the story!

Dislikes
The book isn't just the ending to their journey, but also a beginning to a new journey.
Jess is trapped in the blue time, frozen during the other twenty-four hours of the day, and she's the one who saved eveyone! Her sister and parents are left without her. Beth knows she's trapped and feels miserable without her. Her parents thinks she ran away and that's a horrible way to remember your child, as a runaway.
Johnathon is miserable without Jess all the time. He will also age much quicker than Jess and they can't be happy together because they know this.
Melissa and Rex are being seperated when they're the ones who keep each other mentally sane. Rex is stuck with a vegetable and a vegetable who is regaining her mind. Melissa will have to deal with more minds now than ever, even during the midnight hour.

Likes
Dess is about to go into the world and introduce new Midnighters to Dessometrics. Also, she won't be a fifth wheel any longer and has plenty of guys to choose from.

Finally, he didn't give a real ending. You can make up what you want to happen next. I have a few ideas...
1. Dess gets a boyfriend!
2. There will be a Midnighter with the ability to transports (like from America to Egypt!)
3. Once Maddy's mind heals, she'll take care of Rex's dad and he can rejoin Melissa.
4. There will be a Midnighter who can make people that are not born at midnight Midnighters, reuniting Jess and Beth.
5. (My favorite) There will be a new midnighter that can release Jess from her prison of being trapped in the midnight hour, or can trap Johnathon in it so they can be together.
6. I've also thought of the idea (and I don't like it) but there's the possiblity that Johnathon may age and find someone else to love since Jess is trapped in the midnight hour.
7. Dess finally figures out the midnight hour and is able to release Jess, or trap Johnathon with her.
8. After Johnathon and the others are gone, Jess (still stuck in the midnight hour) may commit suicide.
9.After Johnathon and the others are gone, Jess (still stuck in the midnight hour)will lead all future Midnighters.
10. Rex will finally snap and turn into a creature and Melissa might have to put him down, causing herself to commit suicide.

Well, I won't go on any further, even though I have a few other millon ideas. But it is great to wonder about all the other characters that are going to come into play! Also I love the idea of getting to choose the way I want the story to end up. He could've wrote a fourth, and I would so read it, but he didn't. He left the rest to our imagination, and I like the idea of that. Though I do wish I knew what he wanted to happen in the future for the characters, it's obvious that Dess will have her happy ending, but what about the other four? One more thing, he put alot of time and effort into this series, and I liked it, alot.

Adiia This was a very intersting review
I have mnever seen a review played out like that
thank you
As the same as you i have also read this book and enjoy it.
write another one soon
just 1 other comment: when you write one like that next time click on has spoilers so no one who hasnt read the book gets the ending

Naomi I'm so sorry, I thought it had a spoiler alert on it! I did put on there at the beginning that there will be spoilers and I was about to reveal the ending.
Correcting now...

Natalie Jeez, not very light predictions...maybe I'm a romantic, but I like to think that at least Melissa and Rex will be happy. Plus I don't think he'd snap...or she'd commit suicide. More likely she'd try to go all ninja in his brain and turn him back.

Naomi Natalie wrote: "Jeez, not very light predictions...maybe I'm a romantic, but I like to think that at least Melissa and Rex will be happy. Plus I don't think he'd snap...or she'd commit suicide. More likely she'd..."

First, 7/10 of my perdictions are very much happy/romantic. Only 3 are not happy. So please do not judge me on the smaller portion of my predictions.

Note number 1, 3, 5, & 7, I want them all to have happily ever afters. I'm a fan of all of the midnighters.

In my opinion, Rex could sometimes really loose himself to his monstrous side in the books. As for Melissa, she had everyone's thoughts in her mind, it was really difficult for her. Rex was the only one who really understood her, so I could never see one without the other. They're like soulmates, so my prediction wouldn't be far off base if Melissa was unable to go ninja on his brain for some reason.

Second, when I'm on a roll making predictions, none of them are light, whether they be happy or sad.

Third, my review was basically to state that anything you want can happen at this point. If you want a happily ever after, you can have it. If you want a unhappily ever after, you can have it.

It was also to make readers think about it, obviously you had a very happy ending, just like me. It was just meant to make people expand from their own box to consider other ideas.

Forth, note my dislikes of this book (namely Melissa & Rex being seperated).

I don't mean to be rude, but I can't tell by your comment if you meant to attack me or not? It doesn't help that I can't hear your tone over the internet. :( I'm leaning towards not since you mentioned ninja! :)

Also, I hope you don't take my reply wrong, I only meant to defend myself. I get a little defensive when it comes to Midnighters because it's one of my favorite series. :)

Natalie Haha, I totally wasn't trying to attack you, sorry if it seemed that way. No offense intended or taken.

I agree, and I focused more on that "prediction" a bit more since I've always been more interested in Rex/Melissa more than Jess/Jonathan as I've found their romance more intriguing and natural (it drives me a little nuts when two characters just get together from the get go without any extreme fireworks between the two, which I guess you could argue for them, I just didn't feel it).
And I totally agree, the thing I was really pissed at was Rex and Melissa being separated. I mean, at least Jonathan saw Jess for an hour, and she didn't leave by choice. Plus, I didn't think that Rex was strong enough to be left on his own (I'm not counting the crazy old lady). I think the main reason he "healed" is because of Melissa...so I'm not convinced he won't go nuts in a month.

First, that is good to know. I knew ninja meant non-attack.

Honestly, a few years ago, I was into Jess and John's relationship more, but this was written back in 2009, and I only updated it in 2010 to add a spoiler alert. (Thanks again Addia!) Now though, I'd be more for Melissa and Rex's relationship. I'm sick and tired of instant love stories anymore. Too many Twilight rejects. :/

Thanks for agreeing with me about Rex and Melissa, they're meant to be together. Just as simple as that. And yeah, Rex could very easily loose himself without her around.

Yeah, don't focus on that 'prediction' much, it was just meant to get people thinking. I didn't mean for it to be taken wrong. I like all of the characters and I really wanted them to all be happy. That's why I have all three books in the hardcover version, not even used versions, full price, brand new. :)

I need to re-read them, but I'm going to start Red Moon Rising in just a few days here, once I'm not busy.

message 7: by Kim (new) - rated it 5 stars

Kim Kelly yeah, very much agreed :) except for the parts about them commiting suicide. but I completly get where youre coming from wanting to write a different ending! the series has so much more potential and he just left it at that! urg! so frustrating! awful ending.

I know what you mean, and I honestly don't think anyone will commit suicide, I was just giving people some ideas about the possibilities and such. I really enjoyed the books and while I wish there was a better ending some days, especially for Jessica, I do like leaving it open for the reader.

RHTQ1 I like imagining that Jess leanrs to control her lighting, or get rid of it, to return to daylight hours. She doesn't need it anymore, the darklings are gone, right? On a side note, that is a bit sad for Dess' genius at creating midnight weaponry
