I was halfway through this book when I heard that Anne Rice had passed away.
She was such a dazzling and magical storyteller that If she had written a 5000-page long book, I would still devour it with ease.
The smoothness of her story always made me forget that I was reading; the journey was more like an enchanting dream.
She was an elegant magician who I wish I had known earlier.
R.I.P Anne Rice.

Terrific review, Icey! I read all the books in this series- way before ŷ- but I do remember Anne's prose- and mesmerizing is the exactly the right word. Rice was a huge influence that will continue on for years to come. 💖

"Devour with ease" ... oh yes, I so get this feeling with Lasher!
I read these books AS they were released, late 80s early 90s. My bestie and I were enthralled, praying they would made into a movie. My bestie died three years ago, and before they removed her life support, I was allowed to sit with her alone. I read the “family history� part of the Witching Hour to her. It was our favorite part. She’d love the show too. EVERYTIME I read a bad review of this series, I could cry. The work of Anne Rice to me is art, and her literary voice will be missed. At least by this old lady, it will. Thank you.
