Every Thursday, four septuagenarians of Cooper’s Chase retirement community gather in the jigsaw room to solve cold case murders unsolved by the Kent police force. [Penny Gray had been a police officer and has copies of the files, but is now in ill health.] The four active members include Elizabeth, a former spy; Ibrahim Arif, a retired psychiatrist; Joyce Meadowcroft, a former nurse; and ‘Red Ron Ritchie, a former union organizer. These are people who have skills and plenty of time on their hands.

So, when a real live murder happens in their community, they find a way to assist the police investigation. Without revealing spoilers, Osman provides a twisty plot involving a lot of characters and multiple murders. It is a wild ride, but our elderly sleuths are up to the task.
