original review - 1/16/22

Bro I would give this like 11/10. This book made me cry so much and I never cry over books or media in general. I wrote about this in my super messy blog review already but I'm still upset about it because I was crying so!! bad!! Like. I tried so hard to concetrate on the words but on the last section of the book, when Bluefur has to give up her kits. I'm- how. How did they make it this sad. I read like half of this book in one sitting so that did not help.

Oakheart's definitely one of my favorite characters now. I don't know how I didn't pick up on that when I read it in elementary school. His kindness and love is the absolute sweetest thing ever, and Bluefur's reluctance, while it annoys me, probably complements him. I'm writing a fanfic to change some of the events; I just think they should've met up more times (like Graystripe+Silverstream). But I wouldn't change what the outcome was. It's so painful because you know Oakheart was literally dying in RiverClan without Bluestar, but it would have been really weird for the series if Bluestar didn't end up the way she did. Basically, the outcome is so set in stone for The Prophecies Begin that there is no "What if?"

Not just the romance though - I love reading about kits growing up and being close with their mother, and we see that through Moonflower (I also couldn't stop crying when she died.) and Snowfur. Ughhh it's so cute!! Everything is so good this book is actually so good I'm- it's like every good aspect of Warriors put into one book.

Okay wait I do have like one thing to say that annoyed me: The battle with WindClan a super shitty thing of ThunderClan to do and they were 110% in the wrong. I had to skip those pages bcause it was just like, what did you expect. Besides that this book was just amazing.

mid-reading note

I feel like all books have a certain emotional potential. For example, if you read a book that makes you cry while you're at school in the bustling cafeteria, it may not reach its full potential due to your situation. Or if you're skimming the book as well, or reading a few pages at a time before you have to go to your next class. But for this -when I read it in January 2022- I hit its emotional potential, with sitting down in my house and reading a large chunk (~40%) in one sitting. Yeah that's all.
