Wow! My heart! What a special, touching story. I cried a few times and am emotionally rounding up because this is a really special book. I do not like it when authors clearly want you to get in your feels and put characters through tragedy after tragedy. But it isn’t like that here. Yes, sad things happen, but it is written delicately. With purpose. I felt like I was floating on a cloud. To me, there’s a difference between crying when something really sad happens, and crying when something is heartbreaking but delicately and thoughtfully written. This book falls in the latter.
It is best to go in blind, and you most definitely do NOT need to know about Shakespeare or his play to appreciate this story. Shakespeare isn't even referenced by name (an idea I LOVED and thought worked really well here).
The style will not suit everyone written in a third person perspective and a little flowery at times, the sometimes short paragraphs could make it hard to fully connect. I connected more with the longer passages that gave more time to sink into what was happening. Those who prefer dialogue may also feel frustrated here.
Something I really want to highlight is that this author is brilliant and I will definitely be checking out more of her stuff. She made writing about a flea interesting. Yes, that’s right, a FLEA.
Ultimately I think it’s worth checking out for anyone who loves to read barring those who would be triggered by the loss of a child.

Thanks Cheri! I am looking forward to checking out her other stuff.

I've had some bad fits for the past few reads so I'm glad it finally became available at the library. It was the longest wait I've had for a book!
