Interesting plot, but not quite an entertaining thriller. It was too long or was it because this was a group read and we read a few chapters a day so it felt like forever. I enjoyed the movie better.

I borrowed three formats from my library. Audio, ebook, and this interesting edition "The Da Vinci Code special illustrated edition". It looks like the glossy hardcover type for your coffee table. The chapters match the actual book. It's less wordy and includes photographs of objects, paintings, and places which makes it more interesting.

Still, I'm happy I "read along" with Goodread folks, thanks Lisa!!🥰 I may continue with the series since the latest one Origin was very good!

Kat (Books are Comfort Food) Terrific review, Kay. Glad you enjoyed it somewhat, but wish it could have been better for you. Maybe the next will be. 💖

Meredith (Trying to catch up!) Wonderful review, Kay! I don't know if I will ever read this, but I will keep the illustrated edition in mind!

Jade Saul Awesome review I really liked Da Vinci Code

message 11: by Holly (new)

Holly B (slower pace!) Not sure I could tackle this one, Great review Kay!

Patricia Gulley I read it twice, loved it. Didn't like the movies because they didn't get into the details of art and religion history. Granted much was based on the book Holy Blood, Holy Grail and its myths, but it was a darned good bash.

Kaceey Terrific review Kay!💞

I'm glad you loved it Patricia! I had no clue what Langdon was talking about half the time...the illustration did help some.

Ellie Spencer (catching up from hiatus) I am so sorry you didn't love this one Kay! I have had this book on my tbr pile for years but haven't been able to bring myself to pick it up yet! 🧡

message 25: by Baba (new) - rated it 2 stars

Baba I always feel torn about this book, badly written, taking ideas and concepts already widely aired; but bring thing them together in a really interesting and compelling story where the story is king and keeps you (me) gripped. Although I very much recommend people read at their own pace and not a pace determined by a read-a-long to get the most out of it, as I'm sure I read this in a few days.

Ooh, I hope you love it when you get to it Ellie. 💖

NILTON TEIXEIRA This book was extremely disappointing for me. Not the story, but the writing. I tried his other books and the writing did not improve. Definitely not an author for me.

Next book for readalong, I'll definitely read at my own pace. I was really into it at the beginning but after 2 weeks, nope not working too well. Overall not as exciting as watching the movie. Thanks Baba!🤨

Sorry that you didn't enjoy this author more Nilton. I didn't give a good rating for the first one either, but I remember really liking his last one. 😊

Terrie Robinson I read this years ago and really enjoyed it but I’m sorry you didn’t, Kay. Wonderful review🌸

©hrissie ❁ [1st week on campus-somewhat run-down] Yes I know what you mean. This is one of those books that most people seem to have read. But not sure I will ever get to it myself! Happy to see you made it, Kay! 💕

Thank you Chrissie. you're so right, almost half GR friends added/read this one! It's a check off the list for me! 😁

Margaret M - (having a challenging time and on GR as much as I can) Great review. Enjoyed the film but what a shame about the book 💖

Patricia Gulley I agree with the other Patricia. Read the first three books twice. The movies were terrible with their slashing of the most interesting parts. At the time of first publication, the church history and antics were a revelation, great job there.
