it was amazing

The everlasting themes: time, nature, moonlight, existence, eternity
There will be time to murder and create,
And time for all the works and days of hands
That lift and drop a question on your plate;
Time for you and time for me,
And time yet for a hundred indecisions,
And for a hundred visions and revisions,
Before the taking of a toast and tea.

Man, woman, relations, emotions, passion, sadness The poems are a genuine cornucopia of literary and historical allusions
With ‘I have saved this afternoon for you;
And four wax candles in the darkened room,
Four rings of light upon the ceiling overhead,
An atmosphere of Juliet’s tomb
Prepared for all the things to be said, or left unsaid.

Transience, mortality, brevity, futility The imagery is rich, vivid and lavishly metaphoric
‘That corpse you planted last year in your garden,
‘Has it begun to sprout? Will it bloom this year?
‘Or has the sudden frost disturbed its bed?

Time is the only real ruler in the universe.

Laysee These are beautiful lines, Vit. Poignant too. Thanks for sharing.

Vladys Kovsky Waste Land it is. T.S. Eliot's best.

message 3: by Jodi (new)

Jodi I think we should all read more poetry. It's very good for calming the mind. The imagery is rich in the lines you shared above, though quite dark. Lovely.🔵🟡

Vit Babenco Yes, T.S. Eliot’s imagery is poetically dark. He wasn’t walking down the sunny side of the street.

MarilynLovesNature Thank you. I need to read this!
