SECRETS, LIES, TORTURED PASTS, AND A COSMIC CONNECTION
“He’s instinct for me. Gravity.
A twisted take on a popular fairytale, Red is a bittersweet ending to the captivating Misfit series. It is intense, suspenseful, heartbreaking, passionate, touching and witty. I spent the entire night on this rollercoaster ride of emotions.
“He couldn’t breathe, I would be his breath.
Red and Daeshim explode off the page. The intimacy between these two is so magnetic. You can feel that desperate need they have for each other, and it comes deep from within them. This is where Cambria shines. I get to experience their unconditional, desperate, breathless kind of love. It's what kept me reading for more.
These characters popped up in previous books in the series, but they were a mystery. We learn who they are as they learn about each other. Red’s past has shaped him into a man who is starving to belong. To be wanted. My jaw fell to the floor when he revealed his big secret. I had to read it again! There is an innocence about him, and his loneliness is so tragic. I just wanted to hug this man throughout the entire book. Daeshim is his polar opposite. He’s brash, he’s aggressive and hot-headed. He is also extremely passionate and sinfully potent. He oozes sex and his tendency to be flirtatious makes you want to go back and “reread that line. My eBook looks like a pack of highlighters threw a party! His unabashed obsession, possessiveness, and acceptance of Red make my knees weak. He consumed me.
It's not all dark and heavy, though. We also get to experience a playful side of the fated couple. Also, some of the greatest moments in the book include the entire Misfit family together in one room. These scenes are masterfully done. We get to bear witness to all the quirks and kinks of each couple and how they operate as a family. I had to wipe my face profusely during a touching moment at a family meeting!
Last, and most certainly not least, is the author’s note. If you are a book junkie, you appreciate those extra nuggets about the fictitious world that just rocked your world. Cambria’s candid letter about how these beloved characters came to be is a gem. It offers a bit more insight into Red and Daeshim and her journey to tell their story. Thank you for that. With my whole heart, I suggest you get lost in the entire series. You won’t be disappointed.
