Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid was so good!!! The writing style was so different to what I normally read, it was in an interview format, but it was so easy to follow. Some of the chapters were a bit lengthy at times, but it was still such a good book! I wasn't born in the 1970's and rock 'n' roll isn't my go to music, so going into this story I was a bit wary because I thought I wasn't going to connect with the characters, but boy was I wrong. I'm so happy that I picked up this book because I loved every minute of it! Daisy was a firecracker, I thought Billy was a little bit petty but after reading the story I understood why. I did this as a buddy read with Yasmin, Abigail, Camillia, and Aiyana<3!!
This is a difficult story, it's completely honest to the bone chilling feel. Rock 'n' roll of the late 1970's we follow the journey of Daisy Jones and The Six and their collaboration throwing them into fame with all its struggles. Each character has struggles that they must overcome. Daisy has her fears that she's not good enough, she just wants people to know her for her voice and song writing skills. Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six, but nobody knows the real reason why they split up at the absolute height of their popularity... until now. Daisy sneaks into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whiskey a Go-Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it's the rock 'n' roll she loves the most. By the time Daisy is twenty years old her voice is getting noticed. Daisy is a beautiful red head with blue eyes, the eyes that catch Daisy think she's absolutely gorgeous.
Another band that is getting noticed is The Six, led by Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, Billy's girlfriend Camila finds out she's pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little crazy on the road. Billy is addicted to drinking and always making mistakes when he's drunk. Billy is spiraling downhill and one of his band mates notices and checks Billy into rehab to get cleaned up. During Billy's rehab stay his first daughter was born, and Billy was NOT there to witness the birth of his first born. Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend. When Daisy belted out the songs, her voice was raw and pure stunning!
Is the band really ready for all the fame and critique that's to come their way? We don't really know the truth until we read the story.
