“come home and shout at me. come home and fight with me. come home and break my heart, if you must. just come home.
AHHHHHHH. having a breakdown rn. it CANT be over. i need more. i need more jude and cardan content. i need more angst, tension and desperation. the plot??? oh my god. i was so captivated. the ending to the second book had me needing answers asap and then boom. plot after plot happened and i was shocked all times. i was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
jude fucking owns me and i couldn't be more happier. she is such a delight to read about and such an interesting character. her feelings and emotions were so complex and well written, i love her. her determination was incredible, her ambition- i adore, her deviousness had a smirk on my face.
there was never a part in this book, in fact the whole trilogy, were i was bored. there was never a dull moment. the whole series was phenomenal. from the world building, to the characters to the plot. the descriptions were mwah.
"i'd like to put my hands around taryn's neck and squeeze until her head pops off.
same, jude. ive always hated taryn, even before her betrayal, and i don't really like her right now either. she just annoys me. but i did like her for a second when she killed a certain someone... let's say i was SHOCKED.
"i recall that your hands were on her, but her eyes were on me,"
cardan, you are so incredibly hot. his love for jude >>> he learns to love throughout the series, and what it means to care for people. im so proud of him. he's also such a great leader and the decisions he makes are smart. i love that everyone came to realise it and except him.
"jude, you can't really think i don't know it's you. i knew it was you from the moment you walked into the brugh."
WHEN HE KNEW!! when he knows his girl >>
"this is my room," he points out, affronted. "and that's my wife."
SKDSAKJHSAKDH when he reminds everyone that jude is his >>
"oh, i don't know," i say. "maybe he'd like to hear me scream."
"i would," cardan says, standing. "and perhaps one day i will." on the way out his hand goes to my hair.
OH MY GOD.
"it's you i love," he says. "i spent much of life guarding my heart. i guarded it so well that i could behave as though i didn't have one at all. even now, it's a shabby, worm-eaten, and scabrous thing. but it's yours."
"you probably guessed as much," he says. "but just in case you didn't."
GUYS im panting, sweating, squealing, fainting, dying and so much more. this man can't get any better, surely. there's no one like him. he is everything and more. he owns everyone. holly black, i love you for creating the BEST, hottest, down bad, obsessed, cute, loveable, dark haired, fictional character. ive been with him every step of the way.
he's been abandoned by everyone, been mentally and physically abused by his loved ones and everyone doubting him because he's young and foolish. i ache for him and love him so much. i want to give him a hug so bad. when everyone bowed their heads and excepted him as high king, i was so happy.
"because i am clever and funny," he says, smiling. "you didn't mention my handsomeness."
"or your deliciousness," i say. "although those are both good qualities."
he's honestly so funny. i love it when he smiles, i love it when he's happy. all of cardan’s lines truly broke and healed me, at the same time, throughout the entire series, especially this book. seeing him be the king of his people’s dreams, truly made me the happiest person alive and sad happy to see him succeed.
moving on, now... madoc, a father who loves you so very much but loves power more? madoc and jude's dynamic was honestly beautifully tragic. surprisingly i don't dislike him at all. them going through things together and against each other was pure.
vivi i was rooting for her and heather. i didn't really know what to expect but im glad they got their happy ending. i really liked heather and i know she didn't deserve to be lied to but im happy that vivi redeemed herself. i was curious to see how vivi would handle things so im glad things went the way they did.
cardan looks at his reflection in the door of the microwave and adjusts his crown so it's at an angle. i roll my eyes, he gives me a quick grin.
he will always be superior.
everything about this series was extraordinary and an amazing adventure to be on. i loved everything about it. i will be crying myself to sleep every night. remember, jude and cardan over everyone.
