I have read this book at least three or four times but it still remains such a worthwhile and emotive read. I don't think I need to give a detailed review as to the story as both the book and film are widely known and loved by so many. It's a classic! Those who love this book might also enjoy the Duncton Wood books by William Horwood. Also "Tailchaser's Song" by Tad Williams.

Thank you Kimber. It's a wonderful book isn't it! There's far more depth to it than many who haven't read it realise. It certainly isn't a really a children's book.

I loved it as a kid. Not sure it would have the same effect on me now.
It is one I own and reread periodically. Thanks for the recommendations Leila, I have never heard of those and will definitely try them!

After you sent me this Leila, I read it, you are right she is wonderful and gave such a stellar review of this great book.
She is one of the bravest ladies I have ever had the honour to meet and her reviews are magnificent Beverly.
It's a great read Nicola and well worth attempting. I am very familiar with the problem of trying to find a book I know i have but appears to be the veritable needle in the haystack. Fingers crossed for you.

Unfortunately it's classic mostly for English speakers. To be honest i have heard about it for the first time, when I moved to the UK
