Books Ring Mah Bell yes, but what does he DO with his erections?

Greg HE GETS ERECTIONS AND THEN ROCKETS BLOW UP AND A NAZI GETS IT IN ASS AND A LIGHT BULB TALKS AND THEN THERE IS A SONG.

AND SOME BANANAS AND MAYBE AN OCTOPUS.

Eh?Eh! Hah!

David I would vote for this review-esque objet d'art, but I kind of hate that you gave it five stars.

message 6: by D. (new)

D. Pow I SEE NOW. It's some sort of PARODY. Hmmm.

But strangely this is better than most of your other reviews.

Heh.

message 7: by Rose (new)

Rose This review is crying out to be adapted into a submission.

OUCH!

message 9: by D. (new)

D. Pow Ha Ha. Nowhere near as articulate as you usually are but its bluntness is quite wonderful too. Maybe you and Elizabeth have discovered a new method of maximum vote getting per least amount of writing.

message 10: by Greg (new) - rated it 5 stars

Greg You are right. This is easily my most profitable review.

message 11: by Thom (new) - added it

Thom Dunn I had an erector set when I was a kid.

message 12: by Courtney (new)

Courtney I thought Karen hijacked your profile for a second there. :P

message 13: by Thom (new) - added it

Thom Dunn If memory serves, I had an erection from 1953 to the Fall of Saigon. Not sure where I put it--it's around here someplace.

karen hahaha i don't yell!

message 15: by trivialchemy (new)

trivialchemy I know this is a parody, because I voted for the original but now I don't remember how to find it.

message 16: by Courtney (new)

Courtney You don't yell Karen. Even around rude customers you keep a calm voice.

message 18: by trivialchemy (new)

trivialchemy Hilarious. However, I am going to refrain from commenting on a 13 year-old girl's books. Apart from my own amusement, I'm pretty sure no good can come of that.

My favorite (and topical!):

Paquita Maria Sanchez It might never have occurred to me that I could possibly have the chance to link this video on any goodreads review, so now I have to. This one's for Tommy Pynchin' it off.

trivialchemy THIS COMMENT IS ABOUT WILL WE ALL START TALKING LIKE THIS FOREVER AND THAT MAKES ME SAD.

Paquita Maria Sanchez It is an interesting concern that you raise, Isaiah. The degradation of language resulting from the text messaging and internet jargon of today's youth is a hot subject for debate amongst many intellectual circles, particularly and not surprisingly among linguists. By contributing to such a method of communication, one could argue that we are all chipping away at the advancements in the written word built up by centuries of the world's greatest thinkers. WITCH IS BAD SHITZ AN NOT GR-8.

message 29: by Greg (new) - rated it 5 stars

Greg Isaiah, are you secretly a twelve year old girl?

message 30: by trivialchemy (new)

trivialchemy It's actually a direct quote from the girl in question's page... I've just been waiting for an excuse to quote it. It's kind of a work of art.

message 31: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen That quote makes my head hurt, Isaiah.

message 32: by Greg (new) - rated it 5 stars

Greg I recognize it now. It's like a foreign language.

I don't get the point. This is easy enough to read but looks like the very devil to type--or text--or whatever. What am I missing ?

Thom Dunn Moby Dick is a big book about this guy named Ahab who's trying to kill this whale cause he's mad at the whale cause it bit his leg off.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

MOBY DICK IS ABOUT A SPERM WHALE LOL SPERM.

message 42: by Brittany B. (new)

Brittany B. This deserves the all-time best review award. I know I'm well over a year late on this particular "style", yet it makes me laugh every time I read it. And isn't that mark of greatness: standing the test of time.
Hmmm there's a guy here named Dan who gives out amusing and arbitrary awards. I'll have to contact him to memorialize the influence of the great JKs bitch.

karen yes!! give greg awards!

Greg I wish JK's Bitch was still active on goodreads, it is a loss to the community that she hasn't logged on in over two years.

karen she is busy reading. we are going to get a flood when she comes back.

Joshua Nomen-Mutatio Will wrote: "LOL BONERS"

That was Pynchon's original title.

message 50: by Thom (new) - added it

Thom Dunn So, Greg, does the protagonist change in any way as a result of these erections ? That is to say, is Gravity's Rainbow unified around a plot ? Or is it more a slice-of-life portrait of a man and his erections with no discernable alteration ? Also, do these erections come about as a consequence of anything he encounters in WWII, or is the War merely the background scenery for the story of a-man-and-his-erections ?
Excellent review, BTW
