4.5 oh em gee stars!

How fitting that I’m writing this review on a Sunday because holeeee shizzznit so much happens in this book!!! I laughed, I cried (ugly tears), I swooned, I facepalmed, I blushed, but most of all I enjoyed myself.

There are probably gonna be some spoilers here and there, so beware 🤷🏻‍♀.

This book continues from book 3 when Isbeth’s destroying Poppy and Cas gives himself up for her so that she stops torturing her. Book 4 begins in Casteel’s POV. That’s right. We actually get his POV!!! Sigh. We needed that. Both Poppy and Cas are completely broken and deteriorating without the other. It doesn’t help that Cas is locked up and isn’t being cared for/fed properly. The anguish and angst felt by both of them are gut-wrenching. Kieran has to force Poppy to eat or rest, but she’s desperate to get Cas back. Sooooo much happens and soooo much is revealed 😅

What I liked/loved-
—CASTEEL’S POV!!!! Ermagod. I was ecstatic to finally get his POV. It’s been three long books in the making, and it was sooo worth it. Cas is just so darn swoony. He’s SOOO in love with Poppy. This man’s just the epitome of what it means to be truly in love with someone. He’ll do anything for his queen, for his love, and he’ll gladly sacrifice himself to keep her safe. I mean 😫😫😫🥹🥹🥹. I got emotional so many times reading how terrible being separate was on him/them ❤️

—the lengths Poppy goes to try to get to Cas. This book is called The War of Two Queens for a reason. Poppy has to act smarter, act harder, and sometimes act callously in order to get to Cas. The battle of the queens is at the forefront of it all, but behind it is Poppy trying to find Cas and bringing him back to her. This means she has to use the eather and her powers to do this, and along the way, blood is shed 😬

—the 🔥 smex dreams. Oh, Lordt. Not even when they’re separated does it stop, cause they are heartmates, and the smexx dreams are VERY real 👀😉. I felt their passion and desire through this and yes, I cried when it was ending 😫.

—the real smex 🔥. Of course, I’m gonna say this 🤷🏻‍♀. Once they’re reunited and in their actual forms, they have some making up to do 😅😉. And do they ever💦 🥵. Of course, Cas’s favorite meal is her 😅 and she finally reciprocates 👀. Their connection is 🔥 as well as 🥹🥰. It transcends just the physicality of lovemaking because they’re soul/heartmates, and it only makes their reuniting even more epic

—Kieran’s love for both Poppy and Cas. Sigh. He’s been devoted and loyal since book 1. It all makes sense. These three are connected at every level, which leads me to

—the bromance👀. Kieran and Cas have such a deep connection, that I was crying when they reunited 🥹😫❤️

—the joining/sharing scene❤️. Yes. It happens. It’s not as *bad* as I thought it was going to be considering some of the reviews I read. There was A LOOOOT of foreshadowing given in the previous books. Poppy finds out first-hand that she can’t bring back beings of two worlds (which includes shifters) and that her being a god/primal means she’ll outlive Cas and Kieran. But if they’re joined, they’ll live as long as she can live. On top of that, if something were to happen to them, Poppy can bring them back to life ❤️. That’s the MAIN reason they agree to do it. But I’ll add my hesitations to this down below. But um yeah this loooong scene was 🔥🔥🔥. Jeeezus Christ 🥵💦💦💦

—Poppy’s powers. I looove it when the heroine is bad a$$, and Poppy continues to grow in many ways 👀. The ish she can do is impressive 💅

—Delano. Omg. I love this man. So of course I cried when things went awry. I love how devoted he is to Poppy and taking care of her 🥹❤️

—the comeuppance 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Stupid b!!!! I was rereading these scenes over and over again. It doesn’t happen until the end, but it was cinematic and just plain good 😈😈😈. Sigh. Don’t judge me for rereading 💅. It needed to happen 🤷🏻‍♀

—Millicent and Malik 👀. Oh, what. The damn tension 🔥. Maybe we’ll get a novella or book or something. I need to see this unfold please 👏🏻

—lots of info regarding what’s going to happen. I appreciated seeing so many old beings making appearances

—Reaver. Omg. This Draken is freaking hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣 and when it came to him and Kieran I was dyiiiing 🤣😅. He also has his own secrets and lots and lots of knowledge. Having him in your corner is a good thing

—Vikter 🥺. Just seeing his name make an appearance had me teary-eyed. 😫😫😫. It’s been three books and I’m still emotional about the loss. His role in all of this was enlightening

—Tawny’s back and I’m VERY curious to find out what happened to her and why she’s different

Things I wanted more of/didn’t like:
—what’s going to happen with the consequences of the joining? Is it going to be a ménage love story now? Is it JUST for the purposes of prolonging their life spans? Is Kieran joining them? Is he going to be a third wheel to their true love/heartmate status? Will he find his own love? Will Poppy have to join this new interest if so? Is this going to go from MF to MFM to MFMF? To I mean? The possibilities are endless. I hope not 😬SOOO MANY QUESTIONS!

—the separation between Cas and Poppy was half the book 😫. It made it so angsty man, I wish some more a$$ kicking had been done to get to this point, but I’m fine with the way it was done. Poor Cas was suffering 🥺

—we are STILL getting introduced to new beings. Like. We’re at 2 billion pages how many more things are going to be introduced? I can only take so many notes JLA 😫lol 🤣😅

Overall, I loved it ❤️ when is book 5 out???

FYI- I borrowed the book through Libby 😉

Hannah Sonia I'm petrified to read this book...Ive loved this couple for ages but when I heard about the joining scene💔... I did actually just read that scene to see how bad it was and it put me off reading the entire book. AGHHHHH!!! JLA can't do this to me!!! It would make no sense for the couple to become a menage! Where has my ultra possessive Cas gone to?😭

Sonia @Hannah I know I have so many questions. It made me hesitate to rate it
But the whole time, he’s always been okay with Kieran he’s so jp but then when it comes to Kieran, he’s okay. Sigh. I totally get what you mean.
If we had more answers, then I’d feel better
Like. If Cas is doing this so that his life long best friend lives as long as him and Poppy. Then it makes sense
Does that mean Kieran gets to continue living his single life?
Does it mean that they’re going to be a ménage?
Sigh
My gut is saying that it’ll maybe be a one time thing but I’ve never read JLA before this series I don’t know her MO

Matilda Although this book caused by extreme anger for days, I’m so exited you liked it! I JUST LOVE CAS >>>
his pov is so good

Sometimes JLynn does love triangles in her books but she hasn't done threesome/menage stuff before. I wish that she had made it known from the start that she might include that in the series. Some fans that have read her books before wouldn't expect that going into this series.

I know she does love triangles(also these types of books usually tend to have love triangles) so when the first two books were out, I asked a goodreads friend if there was a love triangle and was told no but she didn't know if there might be one in the future. I figured there wouldn't be a triangle added when there was just 1 or 2 books left. I was thinking great but that seems to good to be true. I went ahead and bought the first two and preordred book 3(When the 3rd book was coming out I checked the newsletter and it said itnwas now 6 books and not 4 books). I saw a goodreads friend posted asking about a threesome. I was like what? I liked the covers so I bought the paperback to and paid around $50 dollars. It just made me mad bc I wouldn't have bought the books had I known that. I don't like rereading about sharing even if its to extend their life. It doesn't have to be sexual. Usually I would have read more spoiler stuff before buying the books but I wanted to go in mostly spoiler free. It never occured to me that a threesome stuff could be in there since the author hadn't done that before.

Sonia @Matilda- ugh I understand if I hadn’t known going in, i would’ve felt sucker punched. But because it’s been brought up in so many reviews, I knew it was happening before I even began the series. So I constantly paid attention to all of the foreshadowing since book 1. I’m sorry you were so angry 🥺❤️
But yes. Cas’s POV are AMAZING!

Sonia @C.K. I’m so sorry. Sometimes I wish I would’ve waited to begin the series once all of the books were out just in case. Like. What’s going to happen?
And yes. If there’s sharing and you just do it for whatever reasons (which I completely respect❤️), finding it happens and JLA has never done it before would be gut wrenching
I’m sorry you’ve invested so much time and money and energy only to be let down
Makes me glad I waited to begin so that there were enough reviews out there for me to go through. I actually only wanted to know about cheating or ow sex and ignored the other stuff since I normally don’t mind sharing normally
If i was bothered a lot by it, i would’ve questioned why she chose to have the joining be done this way. She’s creating this world, so she can do whatever she wants

Sonia And she could’ve had the joining done in a different manner 🤷🏻‍♀
I wasn’t bothered by it because I’ve cared for Kieran since book 1, there was foreshadowing that I kept looking for as I was reading, and Kieran and Cas have a bond unlike anyone else in the series.
However, if this had been something that truly bothers me (like maybe Cas had to f OW or something) then yes, I’d be like you. Pissed the F off

I actually didn't end up reading the books because I saw a post by a goodreads asking if the "joining" happened when the 3rd books came out. I was just about to start reading the books though. I saw the joining didn't happen in book 3 so I decided to wait to read it until I found out for sure if the threesome would happen or not. I saw it happened in book 4 so I'm not going to read the series. I'm just annoyed that I bought the first 3 books and didn't that bc like I said why would I expect that when the author never did that before? The 3rd book was literally in the mail when I found out about a potential joining and other scenes that I didn't like the sound of like them having sex and Keiran holding Poppy etc.... Also, when I ordered book 3 it was supposed to be 4 books. I would have waited if I knew it would be extended to 6 books (it didn't say that until right when book 3 was coming out). I was just annoyed that I bought the books.

I just worry that Jlynn will start writing threesome stuff in other books in the future not related to this series. The Blood and Ash series became really popular on Tiktok. I guess a lot of people wanted this threesome to happen so I worry that she'll start doing that stuff in her books now. I won't rwad any new books by the author without loking at tons of reviews. If she wants to write threesome stuff it's her book so she can do whatever but I think she should let readers know going into it that there will be sharing. Some readers were upset by that becasue they read her books before and didn't expect potential sharing going into it. That was my issue with it. I feel like the joing is an excuse to do a threesome scene bc that is popular in books now(those are just my feelings). Everyone likes different things in books. For me, I wouldn't be able to get past that. I don't want to read about a H that is ok with sharing his wife with his bff that is like a brother to him (especially when he is the inly one to have been intimate with h.)

I'm disappointed though because so many people rave about Poppy and Casteel and their love for each other. I was looking forward to reading the books before finding out about the sharing. I was hoping that the author wouldn't go that route and it sounded worse reading review about it happening in book 4. I just know I can't get past that and stuff I read about it.

Exactly, I feel it didn't have to be sexual. I read other people said a joining doesn't have to involve sex? I didn't read the books. I just feel like it's an excuse to do a threesome scene bc that is popular in books now. They have to have sex to extend their lives. Yes, if the roles were reversed and it had been the guy having to extend his wife and her female bff's lives with a threesome, a lot of people would have probably been angry about that too. Idk I heard mixed things about it from different readers, so I don't what to think about it happening or not. I think some backlash could have been avoided if the author had said from the beginning that there could be sharing since she didn't do that before.

The author had another series called the Dark Elements. There was a love triangle in that series with Layla, Roth, and Zayne (I still never finished that series). The author couldn't decide what guy Layla would end up with and could write it either way. She left it up to the fans to vote on it. There was site you went to and voted Team Roth or Team Zayne. I think you could vote multiple times. It makes me wonder if she was undecided about a threesome going into the Blood and Ash series, maybe testing the waters to see how people would react? I don't know. I never took the 3 books I got out of the packaging.

Yeah, I get what you mean. If the joining had meant that Cas had to f another woman, I'd be pissed... Poppy and Kieran don't have penetrative sex, but sexual things do happen... 😬. Because women tend to be the ones that read romance, authors will sometimes cater to that. I asked a good friend if she's done threesomes or some kind of sharing of something before in a different series, and I guess she did? Maybe I got confused. I've only read this series by JLA.

YES! If it had been Cas with another woman, I wouldn't have even started. I don't mind OMD versus OWD (it's mostly because I've read SOOOO many cheating/OW sex books in my many decades of reading, and so many are the same- the h remaining faithful to the H while the H screws around, so I'm over those books and prefer there to be OMD versus OWD)

AH! This was the one I was talking about...that there was like a love triangle. Yeah, I haven't read it, but I'd like to know, beforehand, if it has a love triangle so that I'm prepared, especially when one of the love interests gets killed (I've read two books where this happened... not by JLA). I totally understand what you mean.

LIBBY IS FREAKING AMAZINGGGGG!!!
I enjoyed this book. I mean, I cried many times. If you don't mind the sharing that happens, then you'll enjoy it too.

I get that. I don't like it either way though om or ow drama. I don't when the h or H are with other people after being intimate with each other that goes sharing. I like then to just be in love with each other not have confusing feelings about the guys best friend.

In the other series the guy she doesn't pick gets a spin off series. Usually with JLynn love triangle stuff, the guy h doesn't choose gets a spin off series. Maybe I should root for the guy I like better to not end up with h bc he gets a story with no love triangle.

She could have just given the Kerian guy spin off and done the threesome stuff in that book with him and a love interest and left Poppy and Casteel alone. I read the werewolves do threesome stuff. I won't read Poppy and Casteel's books now because it's just ruined for me. Oh well what's done is done. At least, I found out before I got invested. I'm still mad I bought the books not knowing that.
