Sense and Sensibility

This is a story of two sisters. The elder sister, Elinor is governed by sense her every thought is logical, her every emotion is controlled and reserved, whereas Marianne, the younger sister is a force of sensibility she is fuelled by passion and her heart is sensitive and she feels all, and these emotions are expressed at its most natural and true form, no holding back!
A classic Austen, her beautiful language adorned with wit, humour through the many reflections from the sisters and the very interesting and unique friends and relations, together with their many dinner table conversations and while having tea-things brought, while retiring to the drawing room after meals, during the many balls and music parties, and during their walks in the English countryside and in London. The plot moves between different residences of friends/families Sussex, Devonshire, Somerset, London, and transports you to the Victorian English times. I thought the plot very cleverly demonstrated the politics of marriage during this time and the key role class, birth, income plays in making a suitable marriage.
I didn’t think the heroes here were anything compared to a Mr Darcy but suppose there was some charm and scandal to feed my mind. I have to say the plot moves rather slow and you are left to enjoy the conversations and reflections for a major part of the book. I am not sure if I was fully satisfied with the ending either. In any case, not my favourite Austen but still a classic I will never tire of plots where life and conversations evolve around delightful dinners and fancy balls and challenges of finding the right suitors for a happy life!
