"I would have waited five hundred more years for you. A thousand years. And if this was all the time we were allowed to have The wait was worth it."
It's hard for me to pick a favorite between this and acomaf. I will just choose them both as they are special and favorites of mine in their own ways. This took me on a rollercoaster of emotions from laughing out loud to crying so hard that I couldn't see the words. The best part is that I wouldn't change any of it!
A Court of Wings and Ruin is the third book in the acotar series. Gosh, Sarah outdid herself with the building of the world with this one, it's so vividly painted. There wasn't a moment that I couldn't picture what was happening. The plot in this is so much heavier than the previous books as there are bargains being made, a lot of action, politics, and war woven throughout leaving in it's wake all of the tension and angst that had me at the edge of my seat anticipating what would come next. Though this had a slower pace, my interest was kept the entire time as something was always happening or was about to. I feel like it needed to be slower to capture the essence of it all.
We pick back up a few weeks after the events that took place in the acomaf. Feyre has returned to the Spring Court on a mission for revenge for what had been done. While war is approaching, they must figure out how to get allies and find a way to overcome the threats coming their way.
Feyre really shows her strengths in this as she is challenged and tested beyond what she has been before. She is much more than this as she is compassionate in all that she does and is clever being able to surpass all that is thrown her way. Seeing her protective side of those she loves, especially her sisters, with the way they had treated her, was astonishing. I'm not sure that I myself could overlook that, but she puts it aside and does what she feels and knows she needs to do. Here, we see her making bargains as well to help keep her loved ones safe. She really is the whole package. I keep loving her more and more as there is a scene where she shows others how powerful she is and exactly what she is capable of and in that moment she proves to be the queen that she is. I loved the growth that she has as she embraces all that she has done the good and bad and all that she is.
“I did not take your power. You gave it to me, along with the gift of my immortal life. I am grateful for both. But they are mine now. And I will do with them what I will.
Rhysand just keeps getting better and better. I love him so much. Not only is he strong and powerful, but he is brave and selfless, and yes, he is still the same shameless flirt. He can come off as cocky with a hard exterior, but deep down, he is kind and sweet. One thing about him is that he will give everything he has, all of himself, so that his family doesn't have to. It could be seen as a downfall, but it's his way of showing that he is grateful for each and every one of them, it's in his nature to protect those he loves this way. He still has insecurites and vulnerabilities that he is not good enough but tries to overcome them.
“The great joy and honor of my life has been to know you. To call you my family. And I am grateful more than I can possibly say that I was given this time with you all.
Feyre and Rhysand are the epitome of soulmates not just because of the bond they share but in every sense of the word. They are still the ultimate power couple supporting one another in every choice they make, never trying to stop the other from doing something. They encourage one another to do what it is that they feel is the right thing and need to do, though they may worry what the outcome may be they aren't overbearing working together as a team in every scenario. One of my favorite things is that she is not just his mate but his equal in every way possible. I love their love for each other. They are one of my favorite couples to date.
“Because you’re my equal. And as much as that means having each other’s backs in public, it also means that we grant each other the gift of honesty. Of truth.
The inner circle
I know that I said it before, and I will say it again they are one of my favorite found families to have ever read about!
Cassian I just love his whole persona and attitude. He is always trying to keep things light-hearted when they are a bit heavy. He doesn't let the pain and suffering he endured show much. He isn't afraid to put himself in danger if it means protecting his family at any cost to him. I can't wait to know more about him in acosf.
Azriel I love him so much! He is loyal without a doubt. The way that he is the ultimate protector and doesn't hesitate to put himself in danger for his family. Their was one particular scene that I loved at the meeting of courts, iykyk. When can we get his book? I'm looking forward to whenever that may be.
Morrigan shows just how badass she is. I loved watching her in action. She made me love her even more when she shared some of her secrets with Feyre that she had never shared with anyone else. Those secrets, though, made my heart break for her even more.
Amren I have loved her character from the beginning. To me, she has always been sort of mysterious and intriguing. We finally kind of get to see what she is, and we most definitely see what she is capable of. There was a scene where getting to see this, though, that I was so pissed at her iykyk. I honestly didn't think in that moment that I would be able to forgive her. I'm glad that what she did was for the good and that I could forgive her.
Elain and Nesta I hadn't much cared for them in the previous books from how they treated Feyre. Elain, to me, was always kind of a pushover and doesn't have much of a personality. We see her do one of the most unexpected things here, and that made me think that I could like her. Now, Nesta, I began to understand her a bit more her. I feel like she is misunderstood mostly. She didn't seem so selfish and actually tried to help Feyre and the others for once. I'm excited for her book with Cass as I think that they are doing to bring so much tension and banter, which I love. I hope to end up loving her.
This will always hold a special place in my heart. Did it take me through many emotions? Yes, and I loved every minute of it. This did take me a bit to get through. I wanted to binge read it, but honestly , I had to put it down at times due to how heavy it was at times. I found some favorite moments here, the meeting with the courts chapters 44 through 47. Another favorite was chapter 71 that left me emotional with the plot twist that I most definitely didn't see coming. At around 93% chapter 77, it absolutely wrecked me and gutted me. The number of times that I had to reread due to the tears streaming down my face were so many. I will now be moving onto acofas, hoping for some cozy vibes in between this and acosf.
