It's been a minute since I read a Xanth adventure! (over a decade)

Point #1: It's not about the destination or how the big secret was something you knew all along; it's about the journey.
Point #2: It is DEFINITELY about keeping in mind that this was the early 80's, when it was much more common to be openly offensive about matters of gender roles and sex-stereotyped identity.
Point #3: There may not be a more famous writer of dad joke-infused fiction than Piers "Xanth-ony"!
Point #4: If you think that women are fickle, weak creatures here mainly to drive men to distraction and that men have...."masculine ways", you will just love this.

I did laugh out loud a couple times, derisively (see point #2).

Stimpson J. Kat esq... I enjoy the hell out of this series I just turned 44 on the 16th and I still love it. People get angry over these books and I do get why but ido not take any of these books serious I never have. I know they can ne sexist I dunno about the recent ones to be fair. The thing about the female characters is they aren't weak at all but here's what I think piers isn't sexist read his column and you will see that but for whatever reason he has the ladies be weaker to the males so the guys won't my guess can be the song ones? My other guess is he has some start out weak such as smashs wife he met in ogre, ogre (1982) she started out pretty weak as did all the ladies in thst one but ny the end they grew into pretty strong characters cause they were brought out of their shell so to speak. Jenny elf as you may know was based off a real girl and when she started off if I recall though it's been years since I read her early years in the books .she started off really shy than she grew into a strong character. In a spell for chameleon (1977) Bink was pretty sexist in the 2nd book ge goes on a quest to get away from his wife that does piss me off but the source of magic (1979) is still a good book what do you think?

Stimpson J. Kat esq... Sorry about the rambling

Velvetea Hi! Great input! Yeah I'm not bashing Piers, just hoping to warn people against taking his sarcasm too seriously, too. I think he's such an entertaining writer, his characters each have flaws and strengths but it can get daunting when certain patterns persist. He often typecasts his characters. I think it's just his humor~ that sort of "am I right, lads?" It can be annoying, but it's also fun poke at....I could see him writing a boisterous sitcom or two.

Stimpson J. Kat esq... Exactly I know you weren't but read some of the reviews of some of the readers on here and you will see that their tastes have either changed or they have and there is nothing wrong with that there is also some I'm sure that look for things to pick on. Piers is a dirty old man and no doubt was one as a kid too. I've got a warped and fucked up sense if humor too si he's up my ally I started reading him on a lark at age 16. He's n
Been trying to get the series to screen for years and he wants control of the script I think. It's also one that if they put clothing on the centaurs
That's not a big deal. For example, he's an unusal author to say the least the fact he's got 200 books or so plus a book called the magic fart makes me laugh. That one though is not for kids
