Not rating this because I have no idea what I just read.
I mean...I'm speechless, but not in a positive way. And the funny thing is that I don't even have bad things to say about it, either.
I just...read it? Mechanically, with no expectations, but I finished it and I found myself as clueless about it as the moment I started it.
Trust me when I say its heavy content has nothing to do about this. I'm not exactly picky when it comes to trigger warnings, but this book really doesn't have anything that interests me and at the same time I don't think it's fair of me to judge or rate it considering I don't feel anything -either good or bad- for it.

That is a different sort of reaction to a book. I can't think of a book I've felt that way about. It must have been like water at exactly body temperature. Neither hot or cold, so you barely feel it. That can't be a good thing in a book though, to have no impression at all.

Did you ever go back and read any more of the series? I just finished the series today, and I have to say that it should not be judged by the first book. But, of course, first impressions and all that. It's easy to see why so many don't get past the first book. But, believe me, all is not what it seems. Things slowly get revealed as the story progresses. I've been shouting from the rooftops to get my fellow Goodread peeps to venture beyond the 1st book. The character growth of the FMC was glorious to watch. There are still big reveals happening in book 2 and book 3, so I've been urging people to at least get through book 3 before making any final decisions. So, anyway, I just wanted to share my thoughts in the hopes of getting more people to give this series a chance!
