it was amazing

I am so nosy and I love letters!! This is a collection of the hundreds of letters Franz Kafka wrote to Felice from 1912-1917 starting from their first meeting to the ending of their second engagement. I feel that I too have just gone through a 5 year relationship in reading this. We go through the giddy phases of a crush, to falling in love, to relationship troubles, to engagement, to apartment hunting, to the blending of the families, to break ups, to friendship, to love, to break ups again. And all of this falls on the backdrop of the sociopolitical environment of the world during this time including the beginning of ww1. They talk about books, plays, their families, their homes, the draft, their jobs, technology, social politics and everything else 2 people in love might talk about all of which I found really interesting to read about through his eyes. Franz and Felice only hung out probably less than 10 times in 5 years and yet he is completely obsessed. Miss Felice really is just that girl (or he is a little desperate, it's definitely one of the two!)!

Now quickly, before I close: please suggest a remedy to stop me trembling with joy...when I recieve and read your letters at the office, something that would allow me to do my work and not get thrown out. It should be possible to read them calmly, don't you think?...I should be able to achieve this.

I was left alone in the room and was seized with such longing for you that all I wanted to do was lay my head on the table for some kind of support

...in any case, what business have my hands to write letters if all they are made for and all they want is to hold you !
(Olivie Blake has a quote like this in "Alone w you in the ether", she thought I wouldn't notice, but I did girl!! Kafka fans, let me hear you)

Farewell! I am proud that this letter contains not a single complaint, nice as it may be to complain to you.
