Shel Silverstein tells us the story of a boy and a tree. The tree loves the boy and gives him its fruits, leaves, branches, and even the trunk to the boy. But the boy grows older and still asks for more.
You can see it as a toxic relationship between a boy and the tree. This can also be interpreted as a story of the unconditional love of the tree with the boy.
Different people will interpret this book in different ways. But no one can deny the fact that this is one of the most important books that most of us have read during our childhood.

I've avoided this because people gushed so much about it. Your review Dr, Sasidharan makes me intrigued. I will give it a try.

Dr Appu, please try the alternate version of this book written by Topher Payne. It's available for free on his site and it has provided a much better and realistic solution to the boy's relentless demands. I used to love this book but when I read the retelling, this one fell in my opinion. 🙂

Dr. Appu~glad you liked this one. I loved this book as a child, remember reading it so much, but a couple of years ago, I re-read it and just felt completely different. I read it as a toxic relationship about a boy who is just a constant taker. When Rosh recommended the alternate version by Topher Payne, I really liked that.
