This was wa-ay too long. Would have been better if it was cut by half because there were good parts but these were separated by passages and passages of nothing in particular. The first half of the story was slow and I didn't really find it interesting until Eric came into the picture. That perked it up then it reverts to the wordy narratives, fast forwarding in several places so that while it's supposed to give me the impression that Drew's, Scott's and Eric's relationship is one that's developing naturally, I ended up skipping these long and frequent portions looking for an interesting scene.

ElaineY I don't remember this at all except for having found it rather slow and uneventful. But I'm re-reading it now as I realize my tastes and expectations have changed over the past year. I had just started on Cheek to Cheek, having bought Turn the Other Cheek this morning then read that I should read 911 first.

So here goes...

ElaineY I forgot to ask - how is this connected to Cheek to Cheek apart from it featuring firemen?

Kassa As far as I know this isn't connected to Cheek to Cheek much. The same characters have minor appearing roles in C to C but I think easily read alone.

Thanks, Kassa. I had just started reading Cheek to Cheek when I came across Eyre's comment: "Definitely read 911 first. It might not be necessary, but it might help you avoid a little bit of confusion." so I stopped to reread 911 as I couldn't recall much. Anyway, I know now that C2C isn't a sequel, just one of the characters is a colleague of Drew's.

ElaineY Set this aside to read an unpublished work by Rhianon and Voinov - Father of All Things. I'll get back to 911 asap.
