Second re-read:
I wanted to try this one out again after seeing it on my feed for some time. I also wanted to push my luck by trying to read YA again. As you know, YA doesn't work for me anymore as I find things to immature and so forth. That being said, I was actually glad I re-read this one now. The story is quite interesting, the character are nicely written and the plot isn't all that bad. One of the things I actually wish was different was the ages of the characters. I wish Cinder was over 18, that the genre was NA instead of YA. I don't necessary want sex - though that would've been a bonus - but I want more maturity in the story itself.

Cinder didn't act like a 16 year old girl, she felt like she was a couple years older than that, being so mature and down to earth, and I actually think that would have worked better. But that's just my preference. Oh and I wish Kai was more.... alpha male? But still, he's adorable and I totally ship him and Cinder. Maybe now I can finally finish reading this series. I have yet to actually read the latest one... Strange how I chose this one to become my first book in 2020. At least it's a good start considering I still enjoy it and it was YA.

�� Linh Adri, Cinder's stepmother/guardian and Peony's mother. Five years ago, Garan, Adri's husband and traveled to Europe and agreed to become the guardian of the eleven-year-old orphaned cyborg, Cinder. He got the plague five years ago. Adri blames Cinder for Garan's death and Peony catching the plague. She volunteers Cinder as a test subject in order to find a cure as they need more cyborgs to do so. However, no one survives the testing. As Adri is Cinder's legal guardian, she has the power to do so. She hates Cinder.
�� Linh Pearl (17), Adri's older daughter. She hates Cinder.
�� Chang Sacha, the baker who's shop/booth is across Cinder's. Hates Cinder. She got the plague at the beginning of the book (Letumosis: the blue fever, worldwide pandemic. �� Queen Levana, a Lunar ruler of Luna. A tyrant believe to have done unspeakable things in order to remain in power, such as murdering her older sister, Queen Channary, so she could take the throne from her. Lunars were a society that had evolved from an Earthen moon colony centuries ago, but they weren’t human anymore. People said Lunars could alter a person’s brain—make you see things you shouldn’t see, feel things you shouldn’t feel, do things you didn’t want to do. Their unnatural power had made them a greedy and violent race, and Queen Levana was the worst of all of them. They said she knew when people were talking about her even thousands of miles away. Even down on Earth. Princess Selene, Queen Levana’s niece, was dead. She had died in a fire thirteen years ago. There was no Lunar heir.
