Thank you. I didn't know. I will make sure to read some Rilke on Dec 4.

Marquise Good choice. I don't like poetry, but his was one of the few I've not regretted reading. :)

I don't read much poetry myself, but I'm gonna give Rilke a try. Too bad he wrote only one novel.

Alex Vogel I'm not much into poetry either, but Rilkes 'Der Panther' is the only poem I can still recite by heart (since we had to learn it at school). It's magnificent. 'Sein Blick ist vom Vorübergeh'n der Stäbe so müd geworden, dass er nichts mehjr hält. Ihm ist, als ob es tausend Stäbe gäbe, und hinter tausend Stäben keine Welt ...' Breaks my heart each time.

Ken I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as readers who don't like poetry. Instead, I think it's a case of readers who haven't read enough poems to find ones they really like.

John Lennon: "Give peace a chance."

Me: "Give poetry a chance."

;-)

Thanks for sharing. I will sure check it out. I ordered a collection of his french poems. Maybe not be the best way to try his poetry, but hopefully, it will be just the start.

I was the type of reader who said no to poetry. Something had changed this year.
There is temptation there, but I didn't find my poet yet.
