“Do not be afraid; our fate cannot be taken from us; it is a gift.
“There is no greater sorrow than to recall our times of joy in wretchedness.
“Wisdom is earned, not given.
“One ought to be afraid of nothing other than things possessed of power to do us harm, but things innocuous need not be feared.
A must-read in this journey of life! The best read of the year so far :)

Jane, I am thrilled to know that you already devoured these beauties :) :D

Thanks, Sonja! I so much wish it to be declared "The Emblem of Life" :)

Thanks, lovely Tina! :)
It is uncomparable :)

A very legit and interesting topic of discussion, Barbara!
I kept ruminating on this question for many years now and came to conclude that no one can ever know the answer.
We need to know the final fate for ourselves, then can only know if we were able to change it or not. Without having a reference one can never know if I could bring the change or not.
From when we are born till we die, we can never know our fate or future or even the next moment. So better to just live and strive for the better, hope it made sense :)

I especially loved this one: “Wisdom is earned, not given.
I'm so glad that you thoroughly enoyed Dante Alighieri's work! :)

Adding a tad more - We do hear people mentioning doing karma and executing responsibility, and taking up work as worship. I am a very optimistic person and believe that whatever has to happen will happen, but we can't ruin the present and our present mental state by just fearing or conjecturing the future. So better to propel forward with a smile, no matter what! :)

Oh yes, Nika! I loved Dante and Inferno/ the Divine Comedy, are the elixirs of life! :)

So true. Some believe that no matter what they do, fate will intervene to their destiny. I always thought I had control of my destiny, which at times I do. Be kind, get kind. Be mean, get mean. Yet, am I fated to die at 80 or do I have control to change that in the way that I eat? It's a fascinating subject. You're right, we'll know when we are dead🤣

"Thoughts" are the riskiest tool. They are harmless till the time they are under our control, but the moment we become their slave, then everything goes topsy-turvy.
So true, few think fate intervenes, without even realizing it is not fate but we ourselves intervening in our way to happiness :-D
Indeed a fascinating subject, and let us enjoy the now without breaking our heads to know the future :P
