An oldie from Elmore Leonard, the King of Modern Noir...melon farmer, former spec op operator, is threatened by an organized crime hit man...great characters and fun plot...so much fun, I resurrected the old Charles Bronson movie and boy did they get the roles assigned correctly...spot on!

This was a period where Bronson did a lot of novel adaptations in a short amount of time. In addition to this one, off the top of my head there was Breakheart Pass by Alistair MacLean, Death Wish by Brian Garfield, and St. Ives, which was based on The Procane Chronicle by Oliver Bleeck (Ross Thomas). There may even be more.

Mark Alistair MacLean...boy does that resurrect some childhood memories!

For the most part I agree. I loved MacLean’s last ten years or so of work, with San Andreas as a personal favorite; but I found a lot of his early efforts to be overwritten. But they made some fun movies. Unfortunately his approach to adventure novels has gone out of style and he isn’t as appreciated on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ.
