Clay's Quilt

This is one of my top five all time favorite books. I've never read better written southerners than the characters Silas House has created. Not just Clay's Quilt but all of his books. The prose flows flawlessly and you feel like you are truly in the rural south. One of the best examples of Appalachian literature I've ever read.

Thank you! Yeah, I'd say it's not a book you'd really "get". I don't mean that to sound rude either. This book is very heavy with Appalachian culture and a lot of it wouldn't translate. It's one of my favorites though. I went through a period where Appalachian literature was the only thing I read. If you ever decide you want to read a book with some crazy, backwoods characters though.....this is your book!
