- I love a dream of love I once had,
I love you, and I love this patch of earth.
- And which do you love best?
- The Dream.

The story is simple, a man full of love for nature and life, his flame is blazing and of course he meet some beautiful girls One of them is a mythical character, I love myths so much and I’m always interested in learning more about European myths
It’s common among authors to include some references to myths in their stories but it doesn’t always works well, in this book I can say that the use of myths inside the story is one of the best that I have encountered yet.
Hamsun use the myths as dream or a vision, sometimes the protagonist compares his fate as stories of myths that he recalls
As I said the story and the plot is simple but the language is beautiful and their are some Magical moments, when he dream not clear if he dream while sleeping or awake
and when he stays awake for more than one night he start to see some sort of vision or hallucination. This moment with the beautiful prose and the magical sitting in northern Norway is what makes it a 5 star read for me
