DNF - 20%

Yeah, I can't do it.

I tried, for old times' sake, because it's Marie Lu, but I have definitely outgrown stories like this. I'm too old, grumpy and sleep-deprived to suspend disbelief for teen secret agents whose beauty we need to be constantly reminded of. The last straw was:
Everything about him—dark eyes and thick lashes, the rich black hair that looked effortlessly perfect, the pillow-soft lips, the tattoos that decorated his forearms down to his left hand, the grace in his stride, the lines of his figure—drew the eye.

Come to think of it... I'm pretty sure I disliked descriptions like that at sixteen too. Not to worry. There's plenty of folks who'll love this.

Dana Cristiana Oh yes, I'm bored of these, too. -_-

message 2: by Claudia (new)

Claudia ✨ I read the synopsis and it just sounds so incredibly YA. This definitely hammers home the fact that I've outgrown these kind of books

Rishabh Lakhara Lol

Alicia Krage I've seen this new thing where people are able to mark books as dnf. How are you doing that?

Go to My Books, at the left you will see your shelves and you have the Edit button.

Add a shelf named dnf or how it suits you and select it as exclusive or something similar so you can add it and not be counted as "Want to Read" etc.

Hope it helps. :)

Lisa @Ali - She has a personal bookshelf called dnf and shelved the book into it. On your main profile you can create your own bookshelves with whatever names you like :) Hope this helps

Sara That quote made me laugh so hard I snorted coffee. Oh to be a teen again, obsessed with these perfect boys. 🫠

Not a single speck of irony either. How did we take it so seriously? 😂

message 10: by Becky (new)

Becky cheers to being old grumpy and sleep deprived. same and i'm done with this stuff too. we had a good run but after reading this quote...i sure don't miss it.

Kayla Brooke I stuck it out and gave it 2.5 stars. It was so boring with one dimensional characters.

Sikai Oh no, that is so disappointing. I was really excited for this as I really loved The Young Elites, Warcross or even The Kingdom of Back with Nannerl... :(

kristina Wait HOW OLD are these characters supposed to be? With full sleeves of well done tattoos....

message 14: by Courtney (new)

Courtney Kuehn 😆 I hear that! Yeah…meh, next!

Julia Same. I expected like actual adult not ya but “adult be because she is 19.

message 16: by Mai (new) - rated it 2 stars

Mai H. Yes all of this

message 17: by Holli (new) - rated it 1 star

Holli It had nothing to do with your age. YA sucks these days.

olive I did think it was over the top with the descriptions. It made the enemies to lovers less believable when they immediately felt attracted to each other.

message 19: by Tara (new)

Tara I was excited to see she had a new(ish) book until I read the summary.

Sheila Sull written at a grade 3 or 4 level for young teenagers (this book is ridiculous) and the ending sucks.

message 21: by Emmalee (new)

Emmalee Same! I love Marie Lu but I can’t do the whole pop star trope
