Malum Two sentences? This might be your longest review yet Jayson :P

Shruti - Bookbabe_4life Awesome review jayson! Glad this book stood up to your liking well :)

Thank you very much, Adila!

Actually, all my reviews are exactly the same length (or close to it) as you can see in this picture: /photo/user/.... Regarding punctuation, believe it or not, I've even written three-sentence reviews :)

Thanks a lot, Shruti! I appreciate it! This is one of my favorites :)

Rick I liked the whole series, as well as the follow ups after Stieg Larsson died. Glad to see you liked it as well.

Thanks a lot, Rick! I haven't read the continuation novels, but I do own the first one and mean to read it sometime soon.

Beatrice My favorite. I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the series. The second one is my favorite.

Lori a Transylvania feel That's it! Like that episode of the Twilight Zone set in a gulag.

Jayson Beatrice wrote: "My favorite. I hope you'll enjoy the rest of the series. The second one is my favorite."

Thank you very much, Beatrice! I enjoyed the second one a lot as well. I've not read the continuation novels by Lagercrantz, though I intend to eventually binge them all :)

Jayson Lori wrote: "a Transylvania feel That's it! Like that episode of the Twilight Zone set in a gulag."

Thanks a lot, Lori! I haven't seen that episode of The Twilight Zone, or don't recall it, but I'll be sure to see if there's a clip on YouTube later on :)

MischaS_ I really liked this one. But for some reason I never continued with the rest of the series...

Jayson MischaS_ wrote: "I really liked this one. But for some reason I never continued with the rest of the series..."

I enjoyed the other books, but I wouldn't say they’re essential if you felt like you wanted to stop here. They're actually very different from this one. This is more of a locked-room murder mystery, while the other two are a two-part crime drama. So, if you read the second book you would have to read the third, whereas this one's very much a stand-alone.

Very glad to hear that, meital :)

Jayson Terry wrote: "You can smack my wrist... I've seen the movies, but haven't read the books. I loved the setting in the movies. I'd imagine the books are 10x better at least."

I've not seen the films yet, so I can't say directly, but I'm generally inclined to believe books are better. It's rare to find an adaptation that lives up to or exceeds the source material. Though I hear the films are excellent, and should probably see them before saying that for certain, there are always exceptions :)

Théo M. (bookswiththeo) You should watch the films, I am a huge Stieg Larsson fan, and I can say the films are really good. They manipulate the text differently but both are entertaining and use the atmosphere differently in what they do. There are changes in both films from the text, however they keep the main idea of the story. I enjoy both of them!

Luvtoread (Trying to catch up) Glad you loved the book, Jason! I loved it as well, and I completely agree with A. M. about the films. They are great and each film is really worth watching. They both captured the cold and icy dismal atmosphere of the book and the actors in both films are great!!

Great short review!!😅

Rachel this might actually be the review that finally convinces me to read this haha

Thanks for the recommendation! I will have to bump them to the top of my list of films to watch :)

Thank you very much, Luvtoread! I will certainly make a point to watch the movies at the next opportunity :)

Lol! I'm very happy to hear that, Rachel. If I did manage to tip the scales, I hope you have a good time with it 😁👍

Ի✌️ Nice review, Jayson! This has been a good surprise for me. I read the series times ago, after many suggestion by friends. An intriguing story, good plot and a tough female character. :)

Thanks, Andrew! It was a surprise for me too how much I liked it. As well, the female lead may be one of the best single characters I've read in a long time.

I see where you're coming from. I think this is the reason I don't watch too many movies anymore. I'm always waiting to read the book first, not wanting to feel the regret you mention. I don't see too many films adapted from books as a result. 🤷‍♂

Makrand When I watched the movie the entire time I was wondering how a non book reader might have felt because the movie was very difficult to understand without so many details that were chopped off.
The book is too huge to be made into one movie!
I loved this one a lot

Glad to hear you loved this, Makrand! I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'll certainly look out for those points you mention when I do eventually see it :)

FAITH ALAYANDE I loved it! The twists, the turns!

Jayson FAITH wrote: "I loved it! The twists, the turns!"

Makrand @Jayson I think you have read the next book in the series too, were they equally intriguing?

Jayson Makrand wrote: "@Jayson I think you have read the next book in the series too, were they equally intriguing?"

The next two books are less mystery but more action. A different type of intriguing.

Unfortunately, this site is not an online library or free e-book repository. You don't read books here, you only review and discuss books :)

I don't know that my reply was so blunt... I used TWO whole sentences (commas and everything) ;)

Jayson Uzair wrote: "I have heard so many great things about this book!"

Yes, it's one of those rare books that, back in the day, blew up to the point where everyone read it just to have an opinion about it.

April Thompson Freeman I recommend this series often. Guess it’s time to read it again!

lacy white One of my all time favorite series. Well the first three are. I wasn't a big fan of the fourth book when they got a different writer.

Haven't even touched the last three, honestly. I have all the Lagercrantz books on my shelf, but never felt moved to read them yet.

They are okay but the way he wrote Lisbeth really bothered me. I will still continue with the series because of how much I love them but it just sucks so much the original author passed and wasn't able to continue the series.
