Kathrynn - I think it was Rock of Ages, but yes it was such a turning point in the story!!!! It was at that point I couldn't keep holding back the tears. And it wasn't predictable either. At that point in the story I thought I knew what would happen next, but it didn't happen.

I owe both of you a big one for recommending this one. I feel like I am still in recovery mode (I am now enjoying a glass of merlot) and this story keeps replaying in my head. I know I wont be able to pick up a book until tomorrow. Have either of you read any other book by this author?

Yes! Everything I have read by her has been exceptional.
I recommend:
1. Mark of the Lion trilogy
This trilogy is set 42 years after the death of Jesus. It starts out very gory with the fall of Jerusalem. It was tough getting through the first few chapters in book 1, but so glad I stayed with it. Follows a young girl as she is sold to a Roman family and falls in love. What a love story!

The trilogy follows the lives of three people: Haddasah, Marcus and Atretes

Atretes was captured by the Romans and taken into slavery as a gladiator where he becomes very fierce and deadly. The three lives intersect as the series progresses, but the first two books are mainly about Marcus and Haddash. The last is about Atretes and his "wife."

2. The Scarlet Thread
It's a modern book about a happy couple that moves to the BIG CITY in California where the husband gets a modern job and drifts away from his wife. He has an affair. She is left very homesick and lonely, but found an old journal in her mother's attic and reads it with the story. It's the journal of one of her ancestors as she and her family crossed in a wagon from the East.

Wow! I enjoyed reading both stories and what happened to both of their lives will be a surprise! Both stories turn into wonderful love stories, too.

3. The Atonement Child
OMGoodness! This one is another modern book. It's about a group of college kids and one is engaged to a future minister. She gets raped on campus and the school throws her out for being pregnant.

I thought I would hate it because of the abortion theme, but Mrs. Rivers did a wonderful job with that. What a book! Another wonderful love story.

Yes, this is the Biblical story of Gomer and Hosea. Its from the book of Hosea in the Old Testament. I'm so glad you liked it! Its a truly fantastic book.

I'd also recommend to you Tamera Alexander. Wonderful books set in the old west.

What app can i get to listen to it? Ive read it once and am currently reading it again. I jist love the book so much. Its hard to explain to people how great this book is without giving everything away.

I got the Kindle book and the Whyspersync audio, for $15...so excited about this. I might save it for the Thanksgiving weekend, this way I'll have time to recover.

It was everything you said it would be KarLyn! I was listening to the end on my way home, and I almost had to pull over. When I got home, I finished and the waterworks started and didn't stop. I listened to the epilouge and the last 5 minutes, 3 times. I have a picture in my head of Sarah and Michael in that field and my goodness, I could cry all over again! So raw and beautiful!

I hope you are recovering, Karla! Raw and beautiful is a great way to explain that story. I don't think a book (or movie...etc) has ever hit me as hard as this one did. And I really appreciated it not being too preachy. I'm off to read your review.

I've read inspy off and on for years, and I know this book is considered a classic, but I have to admit that I still haven't read it. I really need to give it a try; I don't know why I keep putting it off!

Do you listen to audio books Lynn? The narration of the audio book is really good. You might want to give it a try. :-)

I totally agree. It was so intense. If the writing were any more detailed than it was, I'm not sure I could have handled the material.
