4/14: So far, I am not terribly impressed with this. Sure looked to have potential sitting there on the "New" shelf at the library...but Moody is a hackneyed writer without any kind of subtle touch or character insight, and the two main female characters thus far are the stock nagging, shrewish, and shrill bitches that lead me to believe male writers most of the time do not know how to write women. I don't even know if I'll be finishing this one. :P
4/16: I actually finished it. It could just barely maintain my interest, the main character was wholly unsympathetic, and the ending was the very definition of anticlimactic...since apparently there are going to be two more books in the Hater series. I don't plan on reading either one of them.

The Autumn books are much, MUCH better, although you will find the characterization aren't the best.

I've heard good things about the Autumn series, but Hater really turned me off so much that it will probably be awhile before the taste of it leaves my mouth enough to give Moody another shot. Man, it was that bad. Did you read it?
I tried. I got bored FAST. Situation was tossed in quickly, and main character was a cardboard stick figure.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who hated this book. After writing my review, I read through the others. I lost a little bit of faith in humanity for their apparent love of this drivel. Thank you for your review!

Well, the average rating for this is 3.38, which is pretty fucking awful, comparatively speaking. Also, he's a GR author that's pretty active, so maybe he'll step in here and say something. I think you would like that, Natalie. ; )
I'm aware he's active on GR, but he seems to have enough sycophantic zombie-groupies to not give much of a damn what I think.

This book has a higher average rating on Amazon than "Every Sigh, The End." I'm not going to comment on that. I'm just going to point it out.

I'm not even bothering with the remainder of the series. Really, this guy is a piss-poor writer.Jason, that is an utter fucking travesty. What is also a travesty is that you missed my birthday yesterday, but since you live in the future I will not hold it against you.
I'll probably skim the last chapter to see where it goes, but that's about it. And yes, "Every Sigh, The End" is incredible and should be rated much higher than this.

My favorite five-star review reads"In my book "Hater" by David Moody was a very bloody and sexual book. The genre was fiction. This book had so much blood I almost through up everyday reading it."
trying not to be insulting -and failing-, but it's indicative of the type of person who would rate it five stars.
Okay, I just read Crossed by Garth Ennis (graphic novel). It's a similar concept, but is so much better!
You should also read Jason S. Hornsby's new book, Eleven Twenty-Three. The concept isn't really similar, but it's got the aspect of loved ones going inexplicably and violently insane, and it's a much, much better book.
