I'm not a big fan of a historical fiction about royalty but Anne Boleyn has been always extremely fascinating. Too bad here her character is degraded to a greedy, selfish victim of her own ambitions.
And, no matter how appropriate those things were at that time, I couldn’t stop cringing over the fact that Mary was just a teenager while being a king's mistress.
Also, I expected more palace intrigues, but here all the plotting is who going to put his daughter into the king's bed first. Author could really have done better with all the historical material.

Irena Pasvinter Exactly what I expected judging by the "bestselinness" of the author and the series.:)

Irena Pasvinter I fall in the trap too.:) Did you read "Wolf Hall"? It's a historical literary fiction about the same period but written on the other side of the spectrum.;) No wonder it recieved Booker Prize. Some love it and some hate it. I loved it, but I'd like to reread it again and also read the next two books in the trilogy.

Yes, I've read Wolf Hall and it was really good, but can't say I enjoyed it much - maybe cos I didn't like Cromwell's character...

Nora Currie Sorry that this book turned out to be a bummer, Lena. I agree with you that Anne Boleyn is a fascinating woman.
