all that bloodshed, crimson clover, sweet dream was over
I am obsessed!!!
from the moment I saw this book, I knew I had to read it. I've always been so intrigued by the Romanov family's story.was anyone else obsessed with historical tragedies as a kid and who doesn't love a good happily ever after? but MY POOR HEART! ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️ this was tragic, sad, and oh so beautiful. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!
I loved the family bond! Especially Nastya's relationship with her father. It was so sweet! And how they had such an optimistic take on their captivity>>> they really had so much grace and kindness it was almost unbelievable.
the romance?!?! I have no words. (view spoiler) - ya'll tears were streaming down my face. They are so precious 🥹 the bonus chapter sent me LOL.
everything was essentially perfect, except for one thing that cost half a star. There was a magic system with spells and things, but also God, the Bible, ect.?? You can't have both! I'm all for Christian analogy fantasy books, but trying to put literal Christianity in there too makes it weird :/
bottom line: I absolutely loved loved loved this despite some minor things! Nadine Brandes is one of my fav authors and I will read anything she writes hehe.
.ೃ࿔*:
quotes I loved (the writing was so good):
Those who cannot laugh cannot properly live.
But light could not be so swiftly overcome by darkness. Not when that light rested in a person's soul.
Was it hard to start a new life?
It is if you separate the two- old life and new life. But once you learn that it is all of life and each day is a new page, it gets a bit easier to let your story take the unexpected path.
It takes more strength and courage to forgive than it does to enact revenge.
my blood is my crime

That my friend is by far the most relatable book quote I've seen in a while!! I'm glad you enjoyed this read ❤️
