it was ok

I honestly have no idea how to "rate" this book. I am so, so, so glad it is finally over. The first 80% of this book was the most excruciating thing I have ever read. The kidnap and repeated rape of a child is, I think, too horrific to not completely overwhelm everything else about this book. I get the many literary references and the POV of a psychopath is always interesting but still...just too freakin horrible and painful to read, IMO.

Serenity I couldn't even finish this book. I got the audio book because it's freaking Jeremy Irons, but I couldn't get past the bile rising in my throat.

I totally understand that reaction Serenity. I really pushed to just get it over with (I listened to Jeremy Irons as well though I may never be able to listen to him again). The bile really does rise...the last 20% was much easier to listen to (she gets away from him and he is more mulling over the past) but yeah, it was awful to listen to.
