What should you do if you feel ashamed of being a clerk, a member of a team whose wildest adventure in life is to turn the chairs in the office around? Well, Frans Laarmans finds a solution to this dilemma - you could sell huge quantities of cheese, even if you detest the stuff and have no experience of selling anything. Frans takes enormous pains to create the perfect office for himself and gives a lot of thought to the cheese stored up and waiting for a purchaser (or a thousand purchasers) but his efforts to make a success of his new career reminded me of Mr Bean's attempts to cook a Christmas dinner!
This little book is wonderful - it is a classic but keeps the reader's attention and good will throughout.
If you read it in Dutch, you will probably need a dictionary but you will not be pulling out your hair wondering what the author could possibly have meant! I shall certainly be returning to this tale when I need a dose of pure entertainment!
