1/8/2014 UPDATE

I finished this freakin book! YES, I read it all on my third attempt! I feel f*cking proud right now!

The most weird thing is that I didn't hate it. You would think that since I'd already tried the book 2 times and couldn't finish it either of them I would hate it. But I didn't. The writing was decent, the characters interesting if not exactly mind-blowing and the plot pretty original for its genre.

And I will admit here that I read it mostly because I've watched the show and I liked it. I have a thing for crappy TV-shows, don't judge.

I don't think I'll be reading the second any time soon but just the fact that I finished this makes me really happy! I'll up my rating to 2.5.

18/2/2014 UPDATE

Of all the awesome PNR and UF series out there this is the one that gets to turn into a TV show??

★ʜɑʽɳ★ Hows this going for you? :P

Jo ★The Book Sloth★ Pfff...I still can't get myself to really focus on this one! I just read a page or two and then something else draws my attention away!:P

Candice I have to say, of the Elena books the first isn't the best. I can also see where it wouldn't be for everyone ... Armstrong makes the urban fantasy setting more simplistic than most. And, well, Elena is hard to really connect with until further down the line.

message 4: by Jo (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jo ★The Book Sloth★ Yes! Elena was my main problem. I had zero respect for the girl. She had an awesome bf which she cheated and didn't even feel guilty. She lied to everyone(including herself) and she generally made everyone miserable!

Candice It gets better, lol. Trust me on that. It's well worth it for you to get to know Clayton. I haven't read Bitten in a loooooooooong time, but of the series it was the most difficult one for me to read. Stolen is much better. And other characters get their own full fledged novels, which I love. Eve Levine and Jamie Vegas being my two favorites. Eve is awesome.

Sense361 I will be looking for the show. But really, this isn't the most exiting series of the ganre.

I'd decided that I wouldn't read Stolen because I read that Elena is a captive for 2/3 of it, so no Clay. But I'll give it a try!

The show isn't that good(just a warning) and their Clay is nothing like you'd imagine from the book. But as I said, I love crappy TV shows. It's called Bitten.

Candice I will say, however, if you are more into the PNR than the UF the entire series won't be your cup tea. It's of the fade to black variety. But yes, she is held captive but it introduces two MAJOR characters throughout the entire series (Paige and Savannah). And when Clay does show up, it's not to kiss and play. It's to do the things Clay does very well. ~shifty eyes~

Jo ★The Book Sloth★ I like both genres so that's not an issue.

Does he torture? Maim? Kill slowly?:P

Candice ~shifty eyes~ No, lol, not in Stolen. Just general badassery (if I'm remembering correctly).

Brigid I love this series. I love how she mixes urban fantasy, thriller, and horror in one big pot.

Patrycja Fabulous review, hun :)!

Jessica ❁ ➳ Silverbow ➳ ❁ I am clearly the odd one out here--I absolutely LOVED this book. I'm sorry you weren't crazy about, Jo . . . I've actually refused to watch the show, b/c there's no way the guy who plays Clay could be as awesome as Clay in my head, but I just saw it on Netflix yesterday . . . so I may cave on that . . .

I like Clay too. It's Elena I'm not so fond of. If it was the first time I tried to read it I would have probably given it a 3.5 or even 4. But it was the third and I couldn't bring myself to give a higher rating. The show has some differences with the book btw. This is spoiler(big one) so if you don't want it, don't open it. (view spoiler)

Sense361 I have checked out the TV Series. I think the main heroine has more chemistry with Philip than with Clay. The scenes with Clay look awkward. In the book it was other way around.

Jessica ❁ ➳ Silverbow ➳ ❁ I didn't look at your spoiler b/c I finally caved and started watching it, but (view spoiler)

message 20: by Jo (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jo ★The Book Sloth★ Oh, that! Totally forgotten about it. After a point the TV show has nothing to do with the book. It's like Vampire Diaries. They just borrowed the names!:P

Kat valentine ( Katsbookcornerreads) Awesome review!💖😉
