P.E. I don't know if I have caught the meaning of your review right! What are these things being not ideal, but that you still have to do with and be resigned about, if I may ask Hanneke?

Hanneke Hi Pierre-E, it's been quite a while that I read the book, but I assume that I meant that you have to accept the unavoidable inability to generally change the terms of friendship, marriage and relationships, in this case after a divorce, which was the essence of the book as I recall. But I am not entirely sure anymore, as the book did not make a lasting impression.

JimZ I read it many years ago...have you read his more recent collection of short stories Hanneke )Good Trouble)? Loved The Poltroon Husband in that collection!

Hanneke No, Jim, I never hear of that collection of short stories. Well, I'll look into it. I can see him as an excellent short story writer.

P.E. Perhaps the book was not ideal either, and there is no changing it ;)
Thanks for the info, Hanneke :)
