really liked it

Rating: doubleplusgood
A totalitarian world where privacy is non-existent, love is illegal, there's a shortage of razor blades, and a simple math problem is being manipulated. I was really impressed with the world-building here. I found it extremely detailed. In the early chapters of the book, without a doubt, Orwell was already making a point. While I recognize the message and the importance of the book, I didn't enjoy the flow of the story that much. I was able to recruit a few people to buddy-read this with me, and in the end, we mainly discussed O'Brien's manipulative character and Winston's obsession with the idea of him. I also felt like Julia was just a random character, and the book by Goldstein was unnecessarily loooong. Anyway, overall it was plusgood, but rounding it up to doubleplusgood.

Federico DN One of the pillars of dystopian fiction <3. I remember enjoying this one back in the day, Animal farm as well. Boy I really need to read more Orwell. My memory is hazy but I think I too found the Goldstein part quite tedious. And Winston trusting O'Brien because he touched his glasses, I mean can you be any more dumb lol. Did you watch the movie? It's really good too. Coincidentally it was filmed in 1984! Can you believe it? John Hurt was awesome, Suzanna Hamilton too. Great review Shey! So glad you doubleplus enjoyed it :D

Shey Haha. I love your comment/thoughts! I actually like to think that he's in love with O'Brien. With all that torture and betrayal, his feelings just went deeper. 😆 I haven't watched the movie yet, but that's an interesting fact. Thanks for posting your review in my comment section.😄 I'm so glad that we both doubleplus enjoyed it, Federico! 😊

Federico DN Lol. Well now that you mention it I still need to write the review for this one so may borrow a few lines from my pseudo review/comment xD.

Persephone's Pomegranate doubleplusgood I don't know why I find this funny. Great review, Shey.

Shey Haha. It's a term mentioned in the book that I also find funny. Thanks, Persephone! 😊
