...and in this book I learned why fans of this series don't like Fitz. I get it now.
That's not to say I'm completely on Keefe's side (honestly I think I would prefer Sophie to not bother with any romance because there's much more important things to handle).
For the first time in this series, I found myself getting a little frustrated with Sophie--but that was really only about the dating stuff, so does that count? Hmm.
I had actually spoiled myself with part of the ending from when my eye betrayed me and read the back cover of #8.5, so I'm off to go read that one now, ta-ta! 👋
Main Content
Continuing on with basically the same content from the prior books: near death experiences, fighting the bad guys, terrible parents, etc. Nobody dies in this book, though, so there's that. Quite a bit of recalling past events and deaths from prior books.
New content wise:
Fitz is upset at his brother & his brother recalls with extreme anger and hurt about how his little siblings left him to die; Mentions of a murder & the death of a young girl and her father (they were hit by a bus); A mention of a horror movie; A mention of zombies.
Lying, lies, & liars; Language such as "what the--", "gah", "crud", "darn", "screw up", and "freaking" are used up to a couple times each; Mentions of curses (not written out).
More dating/crushes stuff; Touches, Nearness, Embraces, & Hand holding; Noticing & Blushes (including muscles); Mentions of past kisses, almost kisses, & kissing; Mentions of fertility treatments; A mention of Keefe wanting to kick a guy in a sensitive area; A mention of a misunderstanding of it being "intense" between a couple (nothing sexual happened); 'hot' and 'hottie' are used around 5-10 times.
Mentions of evolution-based animals and prehistoric bugs; A mention of an exorcism; A mention of meditation.
(See my reviews with content details of the rest of this series: Book #1, Book #2, Book #3, Book #4, Book #5, Book #6, Book #7, Book #8, Book #8.5, Book #9, Book #9.5, Book #10, Graphic Novel)
