it was amazing

“But there above the tower, do you see? A swallow. The symbol of hope.

Wow! Another epic installment of the Witcher series complete! This one had me gripping my seat, cheering, and laughing out loud. I have become a lifelong die hard Witcher fan! No questions asked. It’s so addicting and exciting, and I’m really going to be lost when it’s all over. I’ll admit I’m even prematurely panicking because the finale is next and all that will be left is the latter published side book “Season of Storms. This has been such a loooong journey that I’ve never wanted to really finish!

But this book brought everything to a boiling point. I’d even argue this has been one of the top books of the whole series just because it’s written like a freaking masterpiece. Written through the use of multiple time periods with snippets of many different scenes and characters to piece things together, it does require A LOT of brain power and dedication. There’s also a lot of danger, trauma, and violence every where you turn.

Ciri really is the main focus of this book though, and she’s been through hell! Everything is finally starting to close in toward the finale as the search for Ciri continues to evolve. We have the OG crew tagging along with Geralt in addition to a surprising new funny character along with tons of exciting revelations. Geralt also has a huge realization in this book which is absolutely heartbreaking, but we do get an adorable Geralt-Cahir exchange which makes up for everything. I just love the banter and the adventures it’s always entertaining! I live for the many laugh-out-loud moments this book has to offer. I’ll toss a coin to my Witcher any day!

Looking forward to the grand finale next!

Amazing quotes:

“.a Witcher is a creature contrary to nature, an immoral and filthy degenerate, born of the blackest and most foul-smelling Hell, since surely only a devil could derive bliss from suffering and pain.

“They are not demons, not devils…Worse than that. They are people.

Kellie O'Connor Fantastic review, Suhailah!! I love the last quote" ...Worse than that. They are people." Haha 😂 So happy that you are enjoying this series!

Suhailah Hahaha yeah me too!! Yes, I'm so sad it's coming to an end.

Karen So were you this way about Harry Potter, too?! I love when we get this involved with a series. Wonderful review Suhailah! :)

Suhailah Haha, well Karen here's the thing, and it's crazy I know, but I have yet to read the Harry Potter series!! I've read the first and second book, but it was when they very first came out. So way too long ago to remember a lot! It's definitely something I want to get into it very soon though. I'm sure to be just as enthralled and addicted especially since I loved the movies!

Tara(I’m back and way behind) Love the quote you picked, sounds like a fantastic series. ;0)

Suhailah Thank you so much, Tara! Yes, it is very addicting!

Federico DN Oh loved all the Witcher pc games <3. Will have to read the books and watch the series someday too and compare. Fantastic review Suhailah! All the best for the grand finale :) !

Suhailah oh, wow! You played them all! I started with Witcher 3 on the Xbox and it's a huge game haha! I love it so far. Need to get back into that actually! I keep forgetting you are also a gamer!

Hardcore gamer and cinephile lol. Oh yeah Witcher 3 is massive! Especially if you do all the side quests and stuff xD. Loved Ciri and Yennefer everything they brought to the storyline. Withcer 2 is also very good! Somewhat shorter in scope but still pretty awesome. I think that one was my fav of all. It's been so long.. but it was so worth it <3

Suhailah That's so awesome! We've got to talk more gaming soon! I'll message you! The hubby and I are always looking for fellow gamer friends!

Federico DN I play offline though, never online. Hate MMO games and the likes. They never end and they all feel the same so can't stand them. I play varied games and change genres all the time but I usually stick with story rich and story driven games. I'm invested in the game stories, just like my readings, but of course, unlike books, you have choices, more interaction and I love that you can feel more part of it <3

Suhailah Ohh, gotcha! We play a little of everything. Not so much the popular MMO games. Just stuff we can do co-op. I do really enjoy story driven games too and have played a few! If you get the chance, send me a list of games you've really enjoyed and recommend!

message 16: by Federico (last edited Jul 01, 2023 02:30PM) (new)

Federico DN Well I think it all depends on what you enjoy playing most; story driven, fps, strategy, rpg, puzzle, fantasy, adventure, survival horror, platform, etc. I like all genres as long as they have a decent story or setting behind it. On top of my head I can name you several of my top favs like:

Life is Strange, Mirror's Edge 1, Dragon Age, Bioshock Infinite, Remember Me, The Talos Principle, Myst 4 & 3, Day of the Tentacle, Resident Evil, Monkey Island, Fallout, GTA, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed Black Flag, Silent Hill, NieR Automata, Portal, Tales from the Borderlands, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, Elder Scrolls Skyrim, Enslaved Odyssey to the West, The Stanley Parable, Tomb Raider, Blackwood Crossing, A Plague Tale, Ryse - Son of Rome. Dead Space, The Walking Dead, Dead Island 1, Outlast 1, Layers of Fear 1, Starcraft 1, Diablo 2, Ori Blind Forest / Will of The Wisps, Gone Home, Bayonetta 1, Prince of Persia - Warrior Within, among others.

message 17: by Federico (new)

Federico DN If any of them ring your bell and would like something similar I can possibly name a few more just like them. Maybe not top fav but, very good nonetheless :p

Suhailah Let's see, I've played all the Life is Strange games (loved them all!). Dabbled in Resident Evil 7 (so scary and stressful), some of Elder scrolls, GTA, red dead redemption 2, dead island 1. Love Fallout 76. Played all the more recent tomb raider games and loved them so much. Played entire Assassin's Creed origins loved it. Played several others (but not all the way through). Tried out A Plague Tale. Loved it but got extremely stressful and difficult so put that aside for a while haha. Played the whole Telltale Walking dead series if that was the one you meant. Heard of some of these others and definitely need to check them out further. And I've played many of the Lego games in entirety haha. Then the occasional Call of Duty, Forza horizon, The Crew 2 but I suck at racing. Uh let's see what else - Far cry 5 I beat. Was working on Far cry 6. The new Hogwarts Legacy has been pretty cool. BEAT Cyberpunk 77. Working on Mafia series and Uncharted series. Those are story driven and adventurous.

message 19: by Federico (last edited Jul 01, 2023 02:03PM) (new)

Federico DN Oh yeah AC Origins <3, how could I forget that one, Black Flag is my second fav then. Have Red Dead Redemption in TBP since forever lol. Played ALL Fallout games except 76 because like I said, hate online xD. Heard about the Lego Games (and movies!) and definitely need to check them out, as well as Hogwarts Legacy. Done all CoDs but since they are not really a fav didn't mention them. Racing games and Story NEVER get along LOL; I hear the best racing story is NFS Most Wanted 2005 and I agree, and I still wouldn't recommend it lol xD. Done Farcry 1-4 and need to move up to the ones you mention. Heard about breathtaking buggy Cyberpunk 77 and have it planned for someday. I'm due for Mafia 3 one of these days as well. And Uncharted of course, also a must :) !

message 20: by Federico (last edited Jul 01, 2023 01:54PM) (new)

Federico DN Oh no I messed it up again, so many games in this series I always confuse the names and titles lol. AC Odyssey is my top fav, LOVE Kassandra <3<3<3, second Black Flag, and AC Origins in third place xD

Suhailah Oh yes, Kassandra is awesome! I still need to finish that one. I'm obsessed with ancient Egypt so definitely completed that one all the way and loved Bayek!

message 22: by Federico (new)

Federico DN Oh yeah totally. Bayek and Aya definitely catched my attention back in day <3

Suhailah Makes me miss it so much! I really need to get back into some of the games I've never finished! So little time, so many things to do!

message 24: by Federico (last edited Jul 01, 2023 04:08PM) (new)

Federico DN I know, especially if you read too lol. That's why after I'm done writing and uploading my missing reviews I'll be taking a year or two vacation from GR just to concentrate entirely on my gaming xD

Suhailah Exactly! And oh wow, a master plan! Well if you ever change your mind about playing any online co-op games, let me know! I'll still be here. I'm years behind on reading 😂😂🤣 Just started back in 2019!

message 26: by Federico (last edited Jul 01, 2023 05:40PM) (new)

Federico DN The minute I hear coop or online I'm running through the door lol, same when I hear poetry with books xD. Oh never too late to pick up reading again, you have your full life to catch up :D

Suhailah Lol that's too funny 🤣 but I get it! And yes exactly! I'm looking forward to playing catch up over the next several years. Life got in the way for many years in between, but I was a big reader as a child and young adult. And I'm so happy I'm back in the reading world. ŷ makes it even funner!

message 28: by Federico (last edited Jul 02, 2023 01:57AM) (new)

Federico DN Yeah it's amazing to share a space with so many kindred bookworms <3! And dangerous too, as your TBR grows out of control browsing so many books lol xD

message 29: by Libby (new)

Libby Excellent review, Suhailah. So many people are crazy over Witcher, hopefully there will be more books, TV series (to be written, created). I haven't gotten into it. . . yet, but I love your excitement, Suhailah :-)

Suhailah Yes, Libby. It's an amazing series! I first fell in love with the Witcher when my husband showed me the games. Then he bought me the whole book series! Then the show came out! The show is a bit messy compared to the books, but the actors are phenomenal! And there is no better choice for Geralt than Henry Cavill in my opinion!! I highly recommend it if you ever get around to it!
