Overall, this story is entertaining and thought-provoking. The author delivers a vivid story of life and drama during the gilded age. I’m looking forward to reading more novels by this author.

I have a different opinion on why Belle put out so much attention to detail and spent so much t Ike and effort into creating beautiful spaces. I don’t think it was for other people, as she states they entertained no one except family. Also, since she didn’t/wasn’t able to socialize much, she was using her incredible taste to surround herself with beauty in order to make up for what was lacking in her life that money couldn’t buy. Also, perhaps to distract and assuage herself from the guilt she felt regarding Elizabeth. I like review; however, will you please tag it as contains spoilers? It would be easy for someone who hasn’t read the book yet to stumble across your review and discover a whole lot of the plot that they might prefer to see unfold as the book progresses.
