really liked it

I did not think it possible to find a book more "off the beaten path" than her book "Stiff", but this one surly is. If you read "Stiff", you'll have no trouble reading this book, if not, look out! Roach has a willingness to take us places others will not go with wit and extensive research. She literally takes us from one end to the other. Yes, from mouth to anus. Oh my, what a ride! I found myself having to take breaks from this book as a little goes a long way. However, this book contains a lot of useful information as well as delving into questions one only vaguely thinks of. Intriguing to say the least. Did you know Elvis died of constipation? Me neither! The "ickiness" factor aside, this is an amazing read.

Lela I don't think I've ever read one of her books but I've seen her interviewed a few times. She is so funny. Can't wait to hear what you think!

Debbie "DJ" I liked her book "Stiff", so thinking this should be good too. She always picks the most unusual subjects!

Lela Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, the Elvis thing is only semi-true. He did die on the "throne" but it was from his heart issues.....probably brought on by the stress of trying to alleviate the constipation brought on by his abuse of painkillers! Remember I'm the die hard fan! I know all! =)

Debbie "DJ" Actually, Elvis had what is called Hirschsprung's disease. It's where a person has a mega colon. Elvis's was 2 to 3 times it's normal size, so he could not defecate on his own. The straining to poop, holding and pushing, puts pressure on the heart and the flow of blood is temporarily stopped. Then, the body does everything it can to get back to normal. That throws off the vital signs and electrical rhythm of the heart. And in Elvis's case his heart was already compromised so it killed him. Funny how in the times this was not something the family wanted anyone to know. Even the medical examiner called it heart failure to avoid embarrassment.

Debbie "DJ" Haha Lela, never saw this. He's definitely still the King! In more ways than one!
