Helloooooo toxic relationship! How very unfortunate to make your acquaintance again�
In all seriousness: What the hell was this?
It’s about a pathetic girl who’s addicted to sex and also happens to have insanely low self-esteem. Yes, really. Addicted to sex. Right. Let that sink in. That’s the stuggle our main character is dealing with. Like, okay� Interesting choice. Especially for a romance book. But okay.
We also have a moody guy who is so addicted to alcohol that I honestly find it highly unlikely he’s still alive. Yet, he somehow still manages to have the body of a Greek God. Uhu. Sure he does. Very realistic.
Of course these two are in a fake relationship, because� they both come from rich families and are both an absolute mess?? Yes, I know this doesn’t sound like an actual reason to pretend to be in a relationship, but that’s all this book gave me, so�
The weirdest part about all of this is that the guy somehow feels like he can constantly judge and tease the girl for wanting sex. Like, excuuuuse me, sir, but out of the two “addictions� yours is by far the worst and most destructive, so get off your high horse and piss off. Thank you. I know he was probably doing it because he was jealous, but I don’t care. Still an arsehole.
And don’t get me wrong; the girl is an annoying idiot. But at least she wasn’t mean or cruel. Actually� I take that back. She was kind of awful to all the guys she was sleeping with (or was using, I suppose). And she never thought to get the main guy, her supposed best friend, any help for his addiction even though he was clearly drinking himself into an early grave. So, huh� Well, I guess everyone just sucked in this book then. Won’t you look at that�
In conclusion: The guy should be in rehab and the girl should go to therapy. The end.

Honestly, it's the hype surrounding this book that has made me very apprehensive to read this one... everyone seems to love this book and I'm too scared to try it out. Personally I don't think I vibe with New Adult books anyway. Sorry to hear this book was so dissapointing! hope your next read is a lot better!

@ren � yea, definitely a lot of hype for this one, but I don’t have a clue why! The MCs are very unlikable, and their addictions aren’t even written with that much depth (for as far as I got, at least), so it’s not very tragic either. It’s kinda just� annoying? And the romance is awful as well, because I feel nothing between them. Just lust, which isn’t a big shocker, seeing how our MC is a sex addict, but yea🥴 I personally only wanted to read this so I could get to the Calloway Sisters series, but I don’t think it’s worth it to sit through this mess😭

BAHAHAHAHAH amazing hilarious review, gorgeous! 💜 This sounds sooo weird. The part "the body of a Greek God" killed me. So sorry it was a mess. Hope your next read is sooo much better!
@Morsal � Lolll thank you😉🩷 honestly, it was the definition of ridiculous to have the guy do nothing but drink alcohol all day, but of course he still has to be hot, so he has a gorgeous body; like, COME ON🙄🙄 it makes the entire way the addiction was written seem so stupid
I tried to read the book like twice and couldn't. The writing, the characters... Well, everything didn't work for me. 🥴 The most incredible thing is that they are more books about this couple and i bet the plot is the same. 😓 Great review, Imme! 💕
@MarianR � it really was all soooo bad! You’re right though; there are five other books about this couple, and I’m pretty sure they’re all the exact same💀💀
Lol Lily and Loren are SO toxic. They do get better later on, but the drama omg 🫣 I loved these two authors quite a few years ago, but I have the feeling present day Iz wouldn't be be as enamoured 😂
@Iz � yea they’re literally the most toxic couple possible; they aren’t good for each other at all🥴🥴 I don’t want to say I don’t like these authors, but I definitely don’t like the couple. Maybe I’ll try another book of theirs someday🤷🏻♀�

@lila � lolll literally the only reason I even attempted to read this was because I wanted to read Ryke and Daisy’s book, so I get your motivation to push through this mess. But honestly, I just couldn’t. The idea of having to sit through five books with these two characters made me want to cry, so yea🥴 I think I might actually just skip ahead to Ryke and Daisy’s book, because I have a feeling this series isn’t complex enough for me to really need to read the previous books. I’m pretty sure I’ll easily follow along with the plot and other characters after a only few pages🤣

i love how passionate this is because this is exactly how i felt when i first read it and by the very end their relationship is so drastically different you’d never believe this is where they started and it makes their character arc so much more satisfying. would love to see you continue the series *sometime* potentially simply for the payoff! 🤭
I want to read the spin-off series from this that everyone loves, but this first series sounds like a mess 😭

Both of those addictions are so self-destructive. Awfully brave of the author to put them in a romance story together.
I just ordered this book from the library 😭 everyone’s been loving it but it’s interesting to finally see someone who doesn’t 🤔

The blurb alone was enough for me to know that this isn't and wouldn't ever be my cup of tea, but that doesn't change how fun it was to read your review! They really should all go to therapy 😂 *showers the path to their first session in flower petals*

Ugh nooo☹️☹️ this is actually one of my favorite series ever 😫 yeah they both are really toxic but i just wished you continue reading it because then you well get to see their character development and how they struggles with their addiction. You should definitely give it another chance I dnf’d too when i read it the first time. 💘

@Hoda � Yea I understand they’ll go through they journey towards redemption and healing, but I just don’t think I like either of them enough to want to wait around for that🥲 I skipped ahead to Ryke and Daisy’s book though, because I thought I might like them (which, so far, I do), and Lily definitely seems kinda sweet now but Loren still pisses me the hell off💀💀

this review is great!! 😂😭 yeah i haven’t heard the best about these two specifically but the other two couples are better (from what i’ve heard). i’ve avoided this series for the longest time. i know these two aren’t supposed to come off as a healthy couple though because of their unavailability and issues, and the toxicity is part of the relationship progression, i think. idk how it improves or whatever in the next books or if they make their HEA in a toxic way. if i did read this, i would share the other problems, especially how Lo is a hypocrite and judges Lily meanwhile he’s also addicted to something (more terrible, i agree). are you gonna continue the series? i know you’re like me and don’t like leaving series as unfinished, but you did dnf this, so i’m wondering if you’ll make your way through it for the others? unfortunately these two are the ones with the most books in this series, so idk if that’ll be enjoyable or miserable. 😂
@elena � hahah thank you😂❤️ honestly, I think you’d go pretty much insane if you read this book/series; I would not recommend. The MCs are awful, and for as far as I can gauge, you wouldn’t be able to overlook a lot of their behaviour either. Not to mention, we read from Lily’s POV, who is, obviously, a sex addict, which means this entire book is basically nothing but thoughts about “sex sex sex sex� (which I know isn’t your fav topic) mixed in with an unhealthy dose of shame. Also, for as far as I can tell their relationship is not only toxic but also nothing but lust, so, probably not your cup of tea either🥴I have also heard that the other couples are better, though, so that’s why I skipped ahead to Ryke and Daisy’s book. I’m really glad I did because all the other characters are literally unbearable in that book, and those two are the only non-selfish people (maybe Connor too, but he’s still pretty self-absorbed too)🤷🏻♀� I’m not finished with it yet, but it’s better than whatever this mess was. Not worth sitting through the entire series, though!
I’m glad af that never picked this up. My initial issue was alcoholism bc that’s a trigger for me but the more I hear about this book more I wanna stay away
@Musi - the book is definitely just really bad in general, but I would 100% stay away if alcohol is a trigger for you, cus his addiction is very present in the book
