Was a lot of this book of questionable origin? Yes. Did I still have a great time? Yes. I adore the Selection so much that if given the chance to read a book that’s basically the selection if they lived in hunger games(ilya and illea? I mean come on) I will probably still love it. That being said this was darker than I expected🫣


Kai “well that won’t do�� Azer 🤭😄he was basically Maxon if he was fine with offing people. I didn’t like that he just casually is a m*rderer but outside of that he was thoughtful and nice and I loved his relationship with his brothers. For a person who’s supposed to be cold he had a long list of ppl he cared about🤨

Paedyn(I hate that name sorry 🥹)I loved her she’s kind of mean but I get it. Her “power�� was probably her best quality i loved it,it was so interesting. I liked her friendship with Adena too but I do wish it would’ve been shown more.

(view spoiler)[ my feelings towards all the characters kind of changed drastically in the final like 10 pages😭. Paedyn kind of lost it, her betraying Kitt for a resistance she barely knew anything about(which is proven by them not telling her their real plan) and then killing his dad was a little much and idk how I feel about that. Kai also being a murderer but her dads murder and losing it but was still somehow down bad🤨😭. (hide spoiler)]

I really liked the storyline and the banter though some lines felt a little out of place or overly modern. The romance was very well written for a debut novel at 18 and it was probably my favorite part of this book and(as of now) believable. I loved the magic system and the fantasy elements it was very thought out I am excited to see where this plot is going 🤭. I did feel like some of the plot was simply there just to copy something else which was disappointing because the plot that as far as I know was original didn’t really need the parts that weren’t. Like paedyn being really good at archery or claustrophobic and running outside and then kai ordering them to let her outside(Maxon and americas first scene) was really random. I could go on and list the number of unnecessary scenes and traits that were lifted out of other books into this one but I think everyone’s already done that so I won’t! I thought it was just two books so I wasn’t upset about the cliffhanger😭I will be sat for the next 2 though😌

The review I was going to write for the first 95 percent of this and the one I would write at the end are so different I need a moment to think about this. 4⭐️ as of right now I’m shocked but idk idk RTC😫😭
