really liked it

I really loved reading this book though the third and final section was not as good as the first two. One of the best memoirs I have ever read.

Lee Klein I wasn't into Auto-de-fe when I read about 100 pages of it about 17 years ago. This is the work for which Canetti won the Nobel prize, right? After loving the Zweig memoir, I may be up for this later in the year!

I have read quite a bit autobiography and this is one, if not, the very best of all I have ever had the pleasure to read. He writes in such a relaxed manner that it is easy for me to relax while reading it. I have taken my sweet time with this. It is not a page turner as literature goes, but it is certainly of the highest quality. I have not yet read the Nobel prize winner you speak of, though I plan on it this year. I have the hardcover edition waiting on my shelf.

Lee Klein I meant he probably won the Nobel for the memoir more than Auto-da-fe, most likely. I'll definitely get to this soon.

M. Sarki You might be (probably are) right. It says something to that effect on the jacket, but I assumed it was he who was a past winner, not the autobiography. But it certainly deserves it.

Lee Klein Yeah, the prize is awarded to the author, but in many cases there's one book that stands above the author's others. It's not accurate to say Canetti won it for the memoir, or Kenazburo Oe won it for A Personal Matter, or Saramago won it for Blindness, but that often seems to be the case in effect, sort of.

I understand. Now that you have brought it up I will be interested in knowing the answer.
