Johann has been through a lot in his vampiric life, so I was so happy for him to get his own book and a HEA.

Alexei constantly going to the coffee shop to see Jay was the definition of adorable. And his confusion as to whether Jay was in to him, or just being his usual friendly self was so funny.

What was Alexei hoping to accomplish even? Slow seduction via increasingly complicated coffee orders?

Jay and Alexei were great together. Jay is affection starved from having spent the majority of his vampire life in an abusive den. Now free he still struggles to break out of the mould the put him in. Alexei has recently left his mafia family behind and is on the run from them. One his own in they small town, he is instantly drawn to Jay. He wants to take care of him. Just fated mate things.

The only thing that stopped this from being a 5 star, is that the ending dragged a little. There was no big third act conflict just a few little ones; I kept thinking the end was coming but there was something else. If it was a little bit shorter it would have been perfect.
