Another new romance book release that turned out to be a so-called "TikTok book" for me. Meaning, no originality, thousands of popular tropes some of which make no sense, and overused quotes that would even work on me if I liked or felt any connection to the main characters. Which did not happen in this case.
Let me just give you a few examples of why this story didn’t work out for me.
one The heroine, although tolerable at times, gave me second hand embarrassment. Too many times.
Who talks like that?
He is just a man. Also, do you happen to know such a profession as a bodyguard?
No comment needed.
Also, no comment needed.
two Enemies to lovers, but the hero is mad at the heroine because she broke up with him out of nowhere, and the heroine wants to talk to him why she did it, but he doesn't want to hear it? We love good enemies to lovers.
three The writing style was also embarrassing, and why were there so many brackets?
I just thought to myself, “Another one? And another one? And another one?". Not to mention, they were embarrassing. I know. Shocking.
This is probably just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the things I didn't like here, but fortunately I don't have to discover more because I'm saying goodbye to this book. Sarah Adams was a new author to me I had never read any of her books, but at least now I know I won't in the future.

"He belongs to a time when people needed warriors for their safety."

sorry that this was not it for you, really hope that your next read is going to be amazing 🤍

im just really picky when it comes to romance books these days so you might like it! I've also never read any of her books, so I finally wanted to try it, but unfortunately it didn't work out well 🥲

I have that with Ali Hazelwood, her books are cringy to many people, but I like them anyway, so I know what you're talking about 😭 thank u bb!! happy that you liked it tho!! I wanted too, but unfortunately it didn't work out

I heard from a lot of people that this book was just cringey 😭 hope you enjoy it!! I always pray when I buy a paperback that I will like it because if it is sucks, I will mad that I bought it

it was my first too but ah.. first and the last 😭 thank u so much!! hope you like it tho!! I’m just really hard to please when it comes to romance books these days

right?? and to say it to your boss 😭 I could never, thank you soo much!!

thank you!! 🥹

the fourth wing was beyond bad even 😭 I finally need to learn it too, but it’s not going so well

thank u!! yeah I decided that life’s to short to read books that are not for you so I dnfed it 🥲

thank u so much!! I finally wanted to try this author after about two years of hearing about her books, but I don't think they're for me 😭

happyy you liked them then!! that's why I decided to dnf because there are so many amazing books coming out this month that I don't want to waste my time on something I don't enjoy

I heard that Cheat Sheet was terrible so I’m not surprised 😭

her writing it’s just so childish and cringy that it’s painful to read so I don’t recommend 😭

me too!! who talks like that to their boss 😭

hope you still like it!! I'm just very hard to please when it comes to romance books these days 🥲

thank u!! 🤍

thank u bb!! I was cringing inside when I read it like very two seconds 😭

thank u!! it actually did, my first five stars of the year 🫡

I've heard similar things about Cheat Sheet, so I don't think I'll stick with her books 🥲 her writing style is just not for me, and this is usually one of the biggest indicators for me whether I like a book or not, but glad her books work for you!!

you basically described this book - painful to read, embarrassing heroine and the main characters that act like kids instead of grown people, so she definitely hasn't changed her writing 😭 thank u so much!!

thank u!! I heard from too many people that the cheat sheet was bad too 🥲 so I don’t think I will stick to this author then
