i’m sure others would get more out of this book and the romance but it just didn’t do anything for me. Eli and Rue were a odd pairing that seemed thrown together and i never connected to Rue and Eli as individuals or together. there’s reasonings as to why they behave the way they do which is understandable due to their pasts, but it still didn’t convince me and just came across like two robots mimicking human interactions to be honest.

even though i was aware their situation would be more sex driven than anything else, that doesn’t mean i want to sit through those scenes when they’re written so bland and both characters finish in 5 minutes. Eli was a bit more present than Rue and he did care for her from the start, while Rue took a minute to adjust due to her lack of socialization skills. i wasn’t a fan of the outer conflict either with Rue’s “friend�� Florence and the rivalry between them and Eli’s business partners, so most of the book fell flat for me.
