The Nix

This was the author’s debut in 2016, but only now I decided to read it because I absolutely loved “The Wellness, which I read last month.
I can’t praise his writing skills enough. It’s so vivid! It hooked me from the beginning. Only at 2% in and I felt that I had a winner in my hands. And I was right.
This book is hilarious and, at the same time, touching. It’s so human and believable.
The storyline is deeply engaging and entertaining, and the humor is the smart kind.
This is a multigenerational family saga that covers more than 50 years of America’s social, political, and pop culture from Vietnam to 9/11).
Yes, the book is long and becomes repetitive because of its timeline structure, and I agree that it could be shortened. Regardless, I loved everything about this work, from the opening scene to the tumultuous or chaotic moments leading to the conclusion.
This book may not please everyone, but I was mesmerized by it. I think that it came to my hands at the right time.
Hardcover (Knopf): 640 pages (ten parts, 89 chapters)
Ebook (Kobo): 701 pages (default), 217k words
Audiobook brilliantly narrated by Ari Fliakos: 21.7 hours (normal speed)

"Yes.
It’s that enthralling.
I started it at 5:30AM.
But unfortunately I have a social engagement coming up.
But you can bet that I will be sneaking out to “glance at my phone."

I couldn’t stop reading. I read it between 5:30AM and 2:15AM (from Saturday to Sunday).
