It kept me on my toes until the end.
I liked that Flynn, the protagonist, is not just a lawyer but has a controversial past and let's say... A bit shady. There is a certain dichotomy in his actions and he can be defined as morally gray.
My only criticism is that the plot is a bit unoriginal and that we once again have a lawyer with disagreements with his family because of his job and his vices (alcohol). Someday I would like to read about a lawyer without addictions, with a united family despite the difficulties that arise in the life of a criminal lawyer. I think this is why I liked Her Deadly Game by Robert Dugoni so much.
---------------

So... The title on the book cover is different from the title in GR. That made me wonder and search the right spelling, found out that 'defence' and 'defense' are the same word spelled differently. 'Defence' is the correct spelling if you're writing in British English, whereas 'defense' is the correct spelling if you're writing in American English.
Good to know.

Thank you, Margaret! 😘 Starting this series because of your reviews. 😊

Thank you, Jayme! 😘 So far so good.

I'm not a publisher, but at the end of the day, I guess a book's principle marketplace would probably determine what English is used.
Sounds like an entertaining read whether British or American English!

Can't even explain the confusion I have sometimes. Thanks Kindle has dictionaries. 😅

It was a very good read, Harris! Thanks for all the information, I guess with this cover they were aiming at the US audience.

In Canada it is defence. I know this from hockey. 😂"
Thank you very much, Shelley! 🤗💕
😂 In Spanish it is "defensa", so when I read "defence" it didn't seem natural to me.

Have a lawyer with a mystery or problem to solve. No stress external to the plot. Pushing hard to make sure there is drama is why hardly anyone thinks of creating mysteries without crimes in them. I just want a treasure quest, map, and clues to decode, baby!

Thank you so much, Sabrina! 🤗💜

Thank you very much, Rowan! 🤗💜

Thank you so much, Carolyn! 🤗💜 At school they taught me to write with "U's" but over the years, the vast majority of books I read do not use them.

Oh come on, Fede! Why do you think I read fiction? Biographies are not my style. Let me fantasize in peace, please. 😂

Spectacular review, Mica"
